TX: Attorney General Ken Paxton: Guns in Churches Part of Solution
Ammoland ^ | 8 November, 2017 | Dean Weingarten

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has stated the obvious about the mass murder at the First Baptist church in Sutherland, Texas.

People who gather together will have to consider polices to defend against these mass killers. Paxton suggested that Texas consider carrying weapons to protect themselves.

From foxnews.com:

Paxton added that churches, places of business and schools should have policies addressing the possibility of a shooter so they can protect their communities.

“I wish some law would fix all of this,” he said.

“All I can say is in Texas at least we have the opportunity to have conceal carry,” he explained. “And so … there's always the opportunity that gunman will be taken out before he has the opportunity to kill very many people.”

Attorney General Paxton was not the first public official to mention the obvious: Armed citizens are a defense against mass murder.  After the Nairobi Westgate massacre in September of 2013, the Interpol Secretary General, Ronald Noble, said that we had a choice: either create intense levels of fortress like security for public places, or consider having an armed citizenry.

From abcnews.go.com:

Interpol Secretary General Ronald Noble said today the U.S. and the rest of the democratic world is at a security crossroads in the wake of last month’s deadly al-Shabab attack at a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya – and suggested an answer could be in arming civilians.

In an exclusive interview with ABC News, Noble said there are really only two choices for protecting open societies from attacks like the one on Westgate mall where so-called “soft targets” are hit: either create secure perimeters around the locations or allow civilians to carry their own guns to protect themselves.

Arming up has always been a logical response to being attacked. There is historical precedent in several colonies laws requiring people to bring their guns to church.

One can bet that the percentage of folks packing heat in church has greatly increased in the last couple of weeks.

Don’t go anywhere without it. If you forget to take it, go back and get it.

Well, it hasn't even been a week yet since the Texas church shooting. But your main point still holds, I'll be carrying from now on in church.

We went to a church event in another city that weekend.. They had a big “No Weapons Allowed” sign. I’m sorry, but if you cannot trust your congregation to defend themselves.. you have a pretty serious problem. We skipped the event. I just cannot imagine being around people like that.
I guess they believe in def-clawing mamma bear and walking the predators over to her cubs.

Does anyone know if the church in Sutherland officially banned firearms?

I wonder if Paxton gets more campaign donations from the people who sell guns or the people that sell coal?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The NRA has their “School Shield” program that started in 2012. It is excellent & the assessment is at no cost to schools. Few people seem to be aware of it. When the Left screams and squawks about “doing something”, the NRA stepped up and DID something that will actually help make schools safer/protect kids & prevent/minimize losses if they come under attack while at school. Every school/parent should be demanding that their school go through the assessment process and implement the findings. The NRA set up a grant program for helping schools fund items needed as determined by the assessment process when funds are not available locally - I see that for right now, grant requests are not being accepted - evidently the money set aside for that has probably been depleted for this year.

“Don’t go anywhere without it. If you forget to take it, go back and get it.”

That’s how we view our cell phones now. That Sunday, cell phones where shot out of people’s hands. Now we have to rely more on guns than phones for protection.

I’ve heard that there are members in our congregation who are carrying. I don’t know who they are, but I sure feel better knowing they’re there.

IIRC, firearms were not banned there. Seems one survivor said that he usually carries to church but his wife was home sick that day and he left the gun with her.

Our Pastor is a retired Sheriff’s office Detective. Although the subject has never been officially brought up, many of us feel he doesn’t ever leave home without it. And after what’s been happening in recent years, many of us are carrying too.

Of course. Good people generally don't shoot at each other.

In the old days it was "We're under attack. To Arms! To Arms!".
Today it's "We're under attack. Disarm! Disarm!
The old way makes more sense.
