Which confirms what I’ve always believed. The American Jewish community is largely ambivalent and uncomfortable with the entire issue of Israel. But it’s a backlash from Christians that politicians have to fear, if they buck Israel. So Baker’s statement, “screw ‘em, they didn’t vote for us” was the height of folly. The Jews didn’t vote for Bush 41, but the Christians did. And they let their displeasure be known.
