yea - Five broken ribs is “trivial.” I broke 2 ribs in a bicycle crash and that hurt like H**l. Could not sleep or breathe for a couple of weeks.
And the pain is excruciating any time you cough or sneeze.
I had a motorcycle accident on the 4th of July, and I still hurt.....................
oh, and don’t sneeze
Broke 1 cracked 2 going down during a Track Bike race (velodrome).
...also cracked coccyx and pelvis in two places.
Funny how you have to approach the bed from just the right angle, lift, lower, bend, sit, twist, stretch, roll, lift, twist, lower, cry, sleep.

I have a good friend that was involved in a bicycle accident about 6 years ago. He broke about 6 ribs. No lung damage. But because the ribs were not able to function to lift the lungs for breathing the doctors thought he was going to die. They recommended emergency surgery to put metal bars across the ribs along some other things. The doctors basically said, if they don’t do the surgery, he might die in a couple of days. I couldn’t believe that broken ribs could be dangerous.
