This election had nothing to do with Gillespie being a RINO, never Trumper etc. It shows that Virginia has gone hard left. Those who say that a pro Trump candidate would have won are kidding themselves.
Jill Vogel and John Adams were good conservatives and they lost badly as well. Virginia’s legislature is going democrat as well as the executive branch. There is no more check on the radical left in this state.
Expect to see the statues come down. They may declare sanctuary cities just to insult Trump. Virginia = California now.

Spot on. Given this state’s current political trajectory, it’s clean no GOPer had any chance whatsoever. Virginia was a reliably conservative state when I moved here in 1995. The growth of the federal government through the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations swelled the liberal, government-worker population in the DC collar counties. It’s been turning decidedly blue ever since. The only possibility if a reversal is if the government workforce shrinks, but that is not in the cards. I’d hoped and prayed that my adopted home state wouldn’t become a carbon copy of Illinois, but it’s definitely headed in that direction.

That’s right. In-spite of 3/4ths of the voters saying keep them up. The only towns where Confederate monuments have come down are the ones controlled by slimeball democrats. Now that the dems will control the state legislature in Virginia (they took it from republicans last night), they’ll repeal the monuments protection law and every single historical monument to Confederates and the Founding Fathers will be knocked down with a bulldozer to be replaced with statues of MLK and Barrack Obama, The Confederate Battle Flag will also be banned. If you’re caught with one you’ll end up in jail. So to hell with the people, the socialist republic of Virginia controls everything in the state. Don’t like it, move out of the state because it’s not changing.
The top of the ticket sucked. We need a MAGA candidate.
