He might have known who would be packing and targeted them first.
Remember he was in full body armor. The civilian that stopped him had to wait to get view of a chink in the armor.

My question is: His parents had to have known that it was illegal for him to have firearms.

It's common knowledge that domestic violence convictions bar ownership/possession.

Civil suit time.

I'd like to see them raked over the coals by law enforcement - "What did you know about your son's firearms, and when did you know it?"

That’s like saying you’d HATE to think the new teacher at school was a child molester.

Sophistry, you were saying it based on nothing.

t fits in with his parents’ neighbor saying he’d heard shooting every day for several days right before the murderous rampage.

Why isn't anyone asking questions of the parents?

"You DO know that it was illegal for your son to have firearms because of his domestic violence conviction, don't you?"

Ignorance of a "common knowledge" law is DEFINITELY no excuse...

His parfents most likely knew that he was illegaly in possession of firearms.

You can't tell me they didn't know about domestic violence convictions barring him from ownership/possession.

Get serious, Muzzie parents and spouses have to step over the bombs and guns in their home and they are not held accountable.

“Give it a rest. Half or more were kids. The others were shot to pieces already in a pile of mayhem. He was in body armor.”

No, I’m not going to give it a rest. The guy walked around shooting people. He could have been shot from behind IF someone had a gun to fight back with. He reloaded. He was checking under the pews. It would only take one person shooting back from 3-5 feet to stop him.

He had a vest. His legs were open. His face was open. From short range, shooting someone in the head is not hard - particularly if you are behind him as he stares at the ground at another victim.

People WOULD have died anyways. He started by shooting thru the walls. No CCW stops that. But he then entered and moved around for a while, checking people one at a time. A little NAA derringer, fired with surprise from 3 feet away, can put a 22 into someone’s face. Easier with an LCP. And easier still with a Shield or better shooting gun. But even one round of 22 fired with surprise as he starts to bend over your wounded body could do the job.

IF you are armed!

Some WERE going to die in an attack like this. But the death toll could have been lower.

Concealed carry is common in my small Texas community .... add to the concealed carry is the ever present “truck gun” .....

All of what you said is true. However, it appears that we are going to have to take it upon ourselves to post armed lookouts at most gatherings. Relying on armed attendees whose attention is otherwise occupied so that an assailant has a chance to get the upper hand is (sadly) not going to cut it at this point.

People manning the doors & surveilling the perimeter are about the only way to prevent this type of attack.

We are apparently at war with a variety of “crazies” both organized and not at this point; best act accordingly.

"He could have been shot from behind"

He probably kept his back to the perimeter to prevent that scenario.

Is it confirmed that no one was armed or shot back?

We went to a Church not far from home for the first time at that Church for the late Christmas Eve Service.(22:30)

We live in Mooresville,NC not small, not huge but a nice place to live.

I've started to live by a motto My Brother taught Me.

“it is better to have and not need, than need and not have”

I didn't know if there would be any Security or not having never been to this Church but I'm not going to leave Myself and My Wife to be defended (maybe) by somebody else. We as a Country are at War with the terrorscum and given the opportunity/need I will kill as many of those scumbag goat humping child rapists I can. I don't care if it's at the 7-11 or a Church.

Anyway I CCW’d My usual 1911 w/1 in the chamber and 7 in the live Mag and 6 spare 7 round Mags just in case. We were led to seating about the 4th Pew from the front. As Communion started I see one of the MVPD in uniform going up to receive Communion and having not seen Him when We entered (and I did look) I was happy to know that at least 2 of us had firepower. (I think I may have had more spares than He did but that's fine cuz He had all the other goodies available..)

After the Service I stopped on the way out to thank Him for being there and His Service and wish Him a Happy and Safe Christmas.

He was in body armor. Despite todays hit movies, nobody was going to pull their LCP and turn that around.

Somebody might get a lucky head shot on the POS..
