There’s going to be a lot of “What if” and “if only” moments.

I really feel bad for the pastor and his wife who were out of town. If it were me - I’d be plagued with guilt. “If only I’d been there”

Especially as their sweet 14 year old daughter was killed.

But these people have strong faith. They will not let guilt ruin their lives. I’m thinking of Romans 8:38

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Probably for the normal reasons most people miss church on occasion. Just lucky for her she wasn’t there. Though i cant imagine the horror she feels now.

Same for the preacher and his wife, they weren’t there that day, but their 14 year old daughter was.

Just the breaks.

But can you imagine?? I pray for the mental and emotional stability of officials who have had to watch that video for clues and evidence. Speaking for myself, that would cause PTSD.

I think for any reasonably normal person, having to watch that video or process the crime scene, see all the bodies, young children, etc.. would cause severe emotional trauma.

Yes, we should pray for the families of all who lost loved ones and for those in the law enforcement and public service community that are having to deal with the aftermath of this tragedy.

You're a good soul.

The guy knew the layout of the Church, so he had to just walk along the side of the Building and shoot through the wall where the Pews were located.

He was a friggin coward, like all these malcontents are.

Evil combined with Human Ingenuity cannot be stopped by making new Laws. All that changes are the Tactics.

And someone did say in an interview that the building itself was beyond reasonable repair.

. Or think of sitting in a classroom discussing biology... when suddenly from behind a volley of accurate and very rapid rifle fire starts tearing up the place.

There were only about 50 people in that church, which would make it difficult for anyone to fire back during such an ambush. But churches with 200 to 300 in a congregation are still small churches and there are thousands that large and much larger around the US.

If several people are carrying when such an ambush occurs in crowds that number in the hundreds, some should definitely be able to put out some return fire and have a good chance to take out the shooter.

I don't think retaliation is as hopeless as several here seem to think in crowds larger than the 50 or so at Sutherland Springs, and it wasn't impossible there.

He was there a while shooting. Walking up and down shooting injured people, from what I’ve read. Much harder to do if one of the injured people shoots back.

This is more than only wife and in-law trouble.

He could have killed them at any time and didn’t need to murder all these others.

“...the surviving brother gave lengthy on air interviews and could not shut up until he was jailed for child porn possession.”

I think that was another brother, not the one that talked non-stop.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

Speaking for myself, that would cause PTSD.

After watching the 37 minute interview of Stephen Willeford by Steven Crouder, it's very clear this man is in need of counseling.

The MSM needs to leave him alone..........

Those that let this monster out to roam among the populace should be held accountable.
I think that this is quite possibly the only way to get effective enforcement of our laws in this land.
Examples need to be made.

Or, are we just excepting these things as the “new normal” these days?

There are probably people who should really go to jail for this.

Give it a rest. Half or more were kids. The others were shot to pieces already in a pile of mayhem. He was in body armor. Despite todays hit movies, nobody was going to pull their LCP and turn that around.

Doesn’t mean CCW is wrong. I’m 100% for it and hope people do it. But an ambush is an ambush. Happens to the best of people, including the most badass SOF types to walk the face of the earth. Some attacks are strong enough that you aren’t going to turn it around despite the fantasies.

Really? 37 minutes? And with Crowder? I’m not sure that was a good idea.

That’s a disgusting speculation to say his mother in law may have known in advance. That’s right up there with the Jews knew not to go to the WTC on 9/11.

There isnt the slightest hint that is true.

I had a 17 year old friend die in a car wreck before the era of cell phones. Her parents had gone to a show and dinner in a nearby city that night. Naturally in those days before answering machines, pagers and cells, they didnt learn she was on life support until 3 or 4 hours after the accident.
Several do-gooders decided they were out drinking and partying and caused them a lot of pain by spreading it around. They were people who never drank in a similar minded community.

Unless you have anything beyond the fact she wasn’t at church that day, id give it a rest.

I didn’t see anything in that interview that even slightly indicated he wasn’t handling it well. What are you referring to? He was clear thinking, understood the gravity of it all, showed compassion, humor where appropriate, and displayed no irrational thoughts or anger.

Seemed like he handled it the way people in shootings do if they are ok.
