Yep - something lost on those who would have us give up our arms. Their vision for us is to:

Make us dependent on the government

Have us willingly enslave ourselves to the government

Attain pet status where the government can have us put down if we become inconvenient to the government (for "the good of the rest")

Have us attain livestock status where we exist totally at the whim of and for use by the government (liberal utopia)
