Sen. Rand Paul was assaulted at his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky by an irate neighbor while he was mowing his lawn on Friday afternoon, according to neighbors.

Kentucky State Police have arrested the senator’s assailant, identified as Rene Boucher, 59, of Bowling Green for intentionally assaulting Paul at his home, causing minor injury, local law-enforcement officials confirmed to Fox News.

Boucher was arrested and charged with one count of 4th degree assault – minor injury. He was taken to the nearby Warren County Detention Center where he is being held on $5,000 bail.

A second neighbor told local news station WNKY said that the Senator was mowing his lawn around 3 p.m. on Friday when Boucher assaulted him. The neighbor also confirmed that the two share a corner adjacent to their homes and have been embroiled in an ongoing feud.

The assailant could face up to a year in jail for the Class A misdemeanor. Local newspaper, The Bowling Green Daily News reports that Warren County Attorney Amy Milliken said Boucher could face extra charges.

Voting records from the Kentucky State Board of Election list Boucher as a registered democrat, according to The Daily Caller

This shouldn’t end well for the neighbor.

You don’t settle your disagreement with a Senator in this manner. Big mistake!

$5,000 Bail for assaulting a United States Senator? Oh I forgot, He’s a Republican.

From the story: Boucher is a Bowling Green anesthesiologist and pain specialist who developed a product called Therm-a-Vest, a cloth vest partially filled with rice and secured by Velcro straps that is designed to relieve back pain by delivering heat directly to the areas of the back where most pain is felt.

Won't it be the ultimate irony if Rand Paul now has to use the same pain relieving vest that his attacker sells !

It shouldn’t end well with anyone, but pulling this routine with a U. S. Senator isn’t going to win you brownie points with a judge.

I thought he would, at least, be throwing garbage over the fence.

What? Does a Senator bestowed with extra inalienable rights than the common peasant? If it’s a misdemeanor it’s a misdemeanor and yes $5,000 would probably be the going rate

He’s an anesthesiologist. If you’re a registered Republican and/or a “member” of the Tea Party be very afraid if you go in for surgery and this character shows up in the OR.

Doctors that turn entrepreneur can go dark. They can harbor resentments when they don’t go rich from their gizmos. Doctor on doctor take down on the lawn! ooof!

I’d I were a Senator, I would keep a lower profile, pay someone in the family well to mow the lawn and not talk to anybody.

The neighbor sounds like a jerk, and I applaud Paul for mowing his own lawn. That said, who cares if the disagreement is with a senator, a greeter at Walmart, or the pool person? We don’t have royalty, and that’s not the kind of country we’re supposed to be. Some of the biggest morons one can meet have held public office. I have no special respect for any politician, and would never ever afford them any special privileges.

I sewed up rice in an old sock. I warm the sock in the microwave and use it when I have neck pain. The therm-a-vest would be great for the back.
