‘I’m the only one that matters’: Trump’s line about State Dept. positions ignites firestorm

President Trump dismissed criticism over his lack of nominees to fill empty positions in the State Department, arguing that his position is the one “that matters.”

In a wide ranging interview Thursday on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” the president discussed the vacancies in key State Department positions.

Trump says he's not worried about unfilled State Department roles b/c "the one that matters is me. I am the only one that matters." pic.twitter.com/JxcWiy7ozY

“Let me tell you, the one that matters is me, I’m the only one that matters because when it comes to it that’s what the policy is going to be,” Trump said.

“We don’t need all the people that they want,” he continued. “Don’t forget, I’m a business person and I tell my people, well you don’t need to fill slots, don’t fill them.”

Naturally, CNN panelists had a meltdown over the comments, including former independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin declaring the president’s claim he is “the only one that matters” is just Trump “confessing of his authoritarian tendencies.”

Naturally when put into context it makes perfect sense and it’s actually a positive statement. But libs won’t do that of course.

When I heard him say that, I laughed, then I figured the MSM would go apoplectic. I love that he tells the truth, and doesn’t pass it through a dozen PC filters.

Foreign policy is made out of the president’s top drawer.

If the bureaucracy thinks THEY are the ones in charge, then they need
to be changed.

Funny how Libturds don’t get their jammies all wadded up when “non-essential” personnel are told to stay home when a snow flurry hits D.C. and 95% don’t show up for work.

Trump loves watching fake news CNN meltdown and Never Trumper Evan McMullin get a seizure.

They can’t stand Trump’s tweeting and accuse him of being a dictator.

Wow, these people get more unhinged by the day.

Bingo. I enjoy watching him strike fear into the hearts of entrenched bureaucrats.

As an elected official I will tell you that there is precious little that won’t “ignite a firestorm.”

It’s the “Executive Branch” and he is the executive, so he is correct. He could eliminate EVERY other member of the branch besides the Vice President and be well within his Constitutional powers. Everyone else serves at his pleasure.

Presidents often have problems with the State Dept who think they determine policy.

The State Dept opposed Truman's recognition of Israel.

It opposed Reagan's speech to tear down the Berlin wall.

His statement, can and is and was twisted 6 ways from Sunday.

Kind of like the previous president saying that he’s a muslim, but corrected by stephanoplous ... only different or completely opposite.

But a sensible, sane, intelligent, thoughtful person would say to themselves.... He has appointed certain people to do a job. Those people have the ability to make the decisions that they think are right. And if they don’t think the jobs/positions need to be filled, then that is their prerogative, based on their judgement, based on their knowledge-training-experience, and the fact that I’ve vetted them and trust them to do their jobs. But, ultimately, I’m the one that makes the decisions to hire and fire these very same people and the responsibility rests, solely on me.

But, then again, we’re talking about the Left and all of its tentacles, that think it’s ok for hillary to corrupt the entire election process, to give away 20% or our uranium, be bribed, to extort millions from foreign countries/companies, blah blah blah blah, and so on and so on and so on.

Close to 1000 were ebac’d from the US Embassy in Baghdad when ISIS was taking over neighborhoods to the west of the city. Makes you wonder why they’re needed and why we’re paying their additional 30% for hostile duty pay and an additional 30% for austere living conditions ... when they have 2 pools, 2 or 3 gyms,a bar, a liquor store, and a $20 million chow hall, with ballistic cover, helicopter service to the airport-so they don’t have to drive on the roads, etc etc

I really enjoyed this one.

I gotta wonder what Putin thought of this...

the problem at the Snake Department isn’t the vacancies, its some of the Nazis and IslamoNazis who ARE on the payroll there
swamp cleaning can’t be done entirely by not backfilling available vacancies, some of the anti-American krap has to be removed, too

just saying
