NFL loses big tax subsidy in GOP tax plan

It looks like Congress is taking steps to end some of the special tax breaks and subsidies for major sports leagues in its tax reform package.

Professional sports leagues like the NFL enjoy tax exemptions on the municipal bonds that are used to build their stadiums. A provision in Sec. 3604 eliminates this perk. If sports teams want to build new stadiums, they’re now going to pay federal taxes to do it.

Let the hits “keep on comin” for the NFL. I won’t be satisfied until I her Brady had to sell his mansion and move into a 2 bedroom apartment. May never happen, but we all have to have goals!

Impossible. The media assured me all their tax breaks ended years ago, and they wouldn’t lie.

That will probably never happen. His wife makes more money than he does.

As an aside, a bill with a Section 3604 in it does not seem like it promotes “simplification.”

Let the NFL die on the vine.

I have worked very hard, and sacrificed much over the decades. How many hours of my week does a multibillion dollar business consiting of grown men being paid millions chasing a f*^#*@ ball think they are entitled to. If their fans want to be raped that is their business, but I should not be forced to involuntarily subsidize their game. Even if they were the National Useful Inventors League, I would be against involuntarily subsidizing it.

“NFL loses big tax subsidy in GOP tax plan” I think THAT is part of the reason the Schumers and the Durbins, et al hate the new Tax Plan so much.

“If sports teams want to build new stadiums, they’re now going to pay federal taxes to do it.”

Well out here in Santa Clara County, CA, they found enough moron voters to get the County to issue the bonds and let ALL the taxpayers of the county foot the bill for the new 49er’s Stadium. Don’t need a tax break when you’ve conned the taxpayers into paying for your new “workplace!”

That stadium is not on my conscious, as I voted against it. For 1 billion dollars, you would think they could have put a retractable roof on that stadium.

But if sports teams had to pay for their own stadiums, they couldn’t pay the players as much. The NFL is majority black. The Republican tax plan is therefore racist.

What Kaputnik started, keeps on costing the NFL. He may end up next to Hoffa.

Hallelujah, hallelujah, halleluja...is this what winning feels like? Why do I feel like singing gospel songs?
