Can I excerpt the “good part” in the middle of an article, or do I have to excerpt from the beginning?

Otherwise no problem quoting select relevant sections.
You may have noticed that most FR threads include the _entire_ article; I prefer excerpts both because they focus on the interesting bits, and send further interest to the site for better analytics data.
