Back in the late 80s, I was a bank teller and the first of every month I saw the same scene. Our customer, who was here on a work visa from an Eastern country (I think it was Cambodia but might have been Laos) would come into the bank with his parents, in-laws, and several other elderly relatives, all probably in their mid to late 60s. Each one of them had an SSI check for $600 and he would use his account, which had maybe $100 in it, to cash their check for them. None of them spoke a word of English and their only ID was their green card.

So, thanks to “chain migration” and “family unity” we the taxpayers handed out $4-6K EVERY month to people who had never worked a day in this country and did not contribute one dime to Social Security or Medicare but probably drew out hundreds of thousands in benefits over the years!
