Well, that "used" not to be a problem with Anglicanism/Episcopalianism...the academic requirements to attain the priesthood were once of the same order as for Roman Catholics. Things have obviously dumbed down over the years.

You are correct. At one time, it was open and almost non denominational because of its history. Been tainted for a few years now.
