The way I understand it the 5 game suspension starts at the beginning of the 2018 season? Seems strange for an incident that occurred in the World Series, with a possible 4 games remaining in 2017 why wait?

The pitcher was very understanding and wrote a very classy reply it seemed and was willing to just let it be a learning situation. IMHO, suspending him for 5 games next season and requiring sensativity training is STUPID!!!

To clarify... the reason he was cited was for a gesture and lip reading.... who set the standards.. and when.. is it just the current popular thing to do.. to tear down statues of past historic figures because they reportedly “owned slaves”... How about he offers an on-field apology during the next game. Sorta the opposite of the NHL where they “work it out” prior to the game and then get suspended for the game.
