Wow, judging from the pics, the dogs survived just fine on that diet. Thought they needed more protein.
My wife would've been in big trouble, however; she absolutely hates oatmeal and won't eat pasta and rice because of the carbs. So we would've taken a lot of freeze-dried vegetables onboard... And I would've died.
This is why God makes airplanes and swimming pools.

Being aboard a boat is just like prison, with a risk of drowning.
A man joins the navy and is shipped out immediately to an aircraft carrier in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
The captain is showing the new recruit around the ship, when the recruit asks the captain what the sailors do to satisfy their urges when they’re at sea for so long.
“Let me show you,” says the captain.
He takes the recruit down to the rear of the ship where there’s a solitary barrel with a hole in it.
“This’ll be the best sex you’ll ever have. Go ahead and try it, and I’ll give you some privacy.”
The recruit doesn’t quite believe it, but he decides to try it anyway. After he finishes up, the captain returns.
“Wow! That was the best sex I’ve ever had! I want to do it every day!”
“Fine. You can do it every day except for Thursday.”
“Why not Thursday?”
“That’s your day in the barrel.”
A lot of foods are very delicious when boiled in seawater. Try boiling some corn on the cob in seawater some time. Delicious. I'm sure rice and pasta would benefit too. After it boils, there is no concern about what might have been living in it.
Good thing they had food and water purification.
Been there, done that. My ship (USS Vulcan, AR-5) was diverted to a rescue mission for a disabled sailing yacht, named the Northern Light if I recall correctly. We took her under tow until the Coast Guard could arrive on the scene and relieve us. A deck Seaman, I stood a couple of watches tending the towline.

Its very possible some one in good shape to start, with water and food could be OK out there till the supplies ran out.

Obviously they planned properly which is why they survived.
No concern about some salt in occasional food, but my concern is _living_ on foods absorbing lots of it; boiled corn (already containing water) is one thing, reconstituted dry grains absorbing lots of salt makes me wonder. At least we know it’s purified at that point.
Will have to look into it as a survival item. Can pack a LOT of food in a small/light space if boiling in seawater is OK for long-term consumption.

The only potential downside to cooking in salt water is kidney failure.
