The prototypes will help us create a design standard for operational walls, CBP said. The new designs would be added to our menu of existing designs, and allow us to tailor a specific wall design to the unique demands of individual areas of the border. CBP could ultimately use all or none of the wall types along the border, Vitiello said, in addition to existing bollard fence designs that are used on the immediate border.

Customs and Border Protection Acting Deputy Commissioner Ronald Vitiello revealed what we are actually likely to see:
"Vitiello emphasized that CBP is looking for a more holistic view on border security, including cameras, sensors and an enforcement zone in the wall plan. Vitiello showed diagrams of plans for border solutions in both urban and rural areas, which included a see-through design, usually a bollard fence, along the immediate border, a zone for enforcement, and then a secondary barrier with the cameras and sensors. The concrete proposals are largely for that secondary barrier, Vitiello said. All those things have to be combined in the proper mix to make it work, Vitiello said, saying each location will be evaluated for the different options."
(This is not Vitiello's diagram, but an earlier version of the double barrier plus enforcement zone concept.)
Are they going to be grappling hook resistant?
Four out the seven shown, seem to back that idea. (good idea I might add)
Where’s number eight?
I like the one with the spikes on the top.
I think that is the purpose of the bollards at the top. Round surfaces to prevent hooks from having anything to grab.
I like the design with the Browning M2 nests installed every hundred yards along the entire length of the wall.
Fire can be auto-directed by drone input or joystick from the air-conditioned Border Patrol HQ.
That would be a MAGA design! Probably a bit unpopular, however.
Washington Free Beacon reported:
“CBP will allow 30 days for the material to cure before a 30- to 60-day evaluation phase will begin. Another unnamed company will test the prototypes for their ability to deter beaches with “anti-climbing, anti-scaling, anti-digging” criteria, Olmos said.
“The CBP has the option to choose one model, two models, or all of them, or a combination of designs and ideas,” he added.”
Sorry, but we are all out of those, would you settle for some ill-tempered sea bass?
I hope Aperture Science is one of the finalists.
What I find interesting is that on viewing these I immediately thought of methods to scale them. Possible in each case. Some easier than others.
Probably easier to tunnel underneath.
I was thinking the same thing. It might be on the far left but whatever it is, it looks shorter. Maybe it's the angle?
And then this one, topped with a triple roll of concertina and cameras:
Metal on top. Heat will melt hands.
It was cut off in that photo. It is smooth concrete, with a smooth taper (thicker near the ground). The color blends in well with the terrain.
