Not so much wrong, more that they don't care to know who their "customers" are. They are ensconced in the Bay Area and would like to believe (or would like) their customers to be "enlightened" citizens one and all. The truth is a large part of their fan base is (or was) from the Central Valley and other, more conservative areas.
Perhaps they strive to be the Air America Radio of the NFL and are tring to build a paying fan base of only lefties. Good luck with that.
There is plenty of dough in the Silicon Valley and I've sat near/next to dot-com braniacs who hold good-seat, season tickets to three professional sports ($$$). They don't even watch the game, they just prattle on with their male friends about techie crap. They have too much money, too much free time and no one to spend it on.
Finally, I'm sure the 49ers are just trying to ingratiate themselves with Goodell and the other Obamaites at the NFL.
