Speculation is rising that US President Donald Trump may visit the Demilitarized Zone dividing the two Koreas during his visit to the South next month.
On Wednesday, Trump hinted that he would visit the DMZ, saying Well, Id rather not say but youll be surprised when asked whether the tense inter-Korean border would be in his itinerary.
Since US President Ronald Ragan, all but one US president visiting South Korea went to the DMZ. The only exception to date was President George H.W. Bush.
Local media had speculated that Trump would visit a US military base here and exclude a trip to the DMZ from his itinerary during his two-day state visit to South Korea that begins on Nov. 7.
Earlier, Trump himself had hinted that the DMZ could be passed over.
In a press conference on Oct. 16, Trump said that his office would certainly take a look at the question of whether his visiting the DMZ would provoke North Korea.

P!
He should go to Pyongyang and visit lil Kim. I bet he can work out a deal.
Well, there goes the surprise.
There goes the surprise.
Hey Rocket Boy ...
Trick or tweet.
He shouldnt go anywhere N Korea...and South Korea is near...the capital, which he will visit, is only 25 miles from the border. This is like waving a raw steak at a bear. Not the brightest move.
Yes, he should go to Pyongyang, but at the head of an army, and liberate the North KOrean People once and for all.
This is a real Beau Gest—a bold move that just might work—If Kim tries anything—it would be war at its worst. Killing the president would be a reason to declare war that even the Democrats would be forced to support. Maybe he will ask for a meet and settle things? Worth a shot.
It looks like the US President has just announced he would not pay the DMZ a visit during his Asian trip.
Speaking as a non-American, I think it is wise. In the current circumstances, who knows what the NK leadership could do? It’s best for him to vosit unannounced anyway.
