A Workers' Bill of Rights Passed at the AFL-CIO 2017 Convention
AFL-CIO ^ | October 25, 2017 | Kenneth Quinnell

At the 2017 AFL-CIO Convention, the delegates passed a resolution calling for the creation of a Workers' Bill of Rights. Speaking in support of the resolution, President Richard L. Trumka said:

Sisters and brothers, working people need a bill of rights.

A collective bargaining agreement for America.

This will serve as a platform for our members to rally around. It will give prospective members a clear statement of our values. And it will provide political candidates and elected officials with a litmus test for our support.

We simply refuse to accept the reality of struggling to make ends meet in the richest country in the world at its richest point in history. And so we demand rights that ensure we are able, through our work, to lead better lives.

The AFL-CIO looking out for workers rights...

Is that why unions have been promoting illegal immigration, protecting U. S. Citizen worker’s rights?

The referenced AFL-CIO’s legislation is a dog-and-pony show for low-information workers imo.

In fact, it would be a dog-and-pony show if career federal lawmakers bragged about a “workers right" bill since the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the corrupt feds the specific power to address labor issues.

"From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. Butler, 1936.

Existing federal regulatory agencies that make policy for INTRAstate labor are unconstitutional imo.

“And it will provide political candidates and elected officials with a litmus test for our support.”

yeah, “our support”, meaning the elitist union “leadership” which has totally lost control over who their rank and file members vote for.

btw, i wonder if this “worker’s bill of rights” calls for ejecting 13 million illegal aliens who are suppressing wages and taking jobs from our fellow citizens?

Suggest you move to such a country. America is the home of the brave and the land of the free. Life is difficult and our Constitution provides you with all the rights you require. If you desire more you will no longer be brave and/or free.
