A Catholic student group at Georgetown University could be stripped of its funding for its belief in traditional marriage.
Love Saxa, a group that advocates for marriage between a man and a woman, is under fire from LGBTQ groups on campus, PRIDE and Queer People of Color, according to The Hoya, Georgetowns student publication. A pro-choice student senator filed a notice on September 25, arguing Love Saxas definition of marriage and relationships violates university standards by fostering hatred or intolerance.
The notice, which would identify Love Saxa as a hate group, could strip Love Saxa of its funding and bar it from using campus facilities. The group receives $250 a year from the Georgetown, which is the countrys oldest Catholic university.
Love Saxa petitioned for a delay because it was not given enough time to defend itself and had not seen the notice, according to the Catholic News Agency. A hearing, originally set for Monday, is now scheduled for Oct. 30.
The controversy began last month, when the president of Love Saxa, Amelia Irvine, published an op-ed titled Confessions of a College Virgin in The Hoya, talking about abstinence before marriage and the groups definition of marriage.

Yes, sadly.
The world has gone mad. It’s insane and upside down in some ways.
A supposedly Catholic University, is going to ban a Catholic group which believes in the Catholic definition of marriage??? Is this correct??? Am I missing something?? And this is ok and expressly approved by officials of this so called Catholic University??
Anyone else stunned at this and the implications for other issues which make come up?
Why anone with traditional moral values would want to enroll in that cesspool is beyond me.
This insanity has to stop. Give them an inch and they want a mile. First it was ‘gay marriage’ and soon after it was the transgender and bathroom crap. Now if someone or some group expresses their belief system they’re a hate group. We have to fight this.
I know. This kind of amazed me. I was born in DC, grew up in the suburbs. I’m not Catholic, but we always assumed certain things about CUA and Georgetown as holdouts for traditional values.
I guess I’m old; and now *everything* is politics...
That we allow certain groups to carry more weight in their opinions and muzzle is a disgrace to free opinion and and free speech.
Comcast NBC has been publishing a regular nightly ad promoting “equality forum” which is anything but equality because it is about only LGTB values, not equality of all.
Those at point pushing this on average Americans are consistently members of the Hollywood trash crowd like Weinstein, etc.
I paid them to deliver all my children.
As a Catholic, can I get my money back? Reparations for current abuses!!!
Jusuits: any questions?
Good grief, I would not want to even be down wind of that bunch, you might get infected with something.
.
Not stunned. More faggie fascism by the Stalinist left.
Let them now come for the guns.
No one was stopping them. Their goal was to get their ridiculous and antibiological beliefs & lifestyles accept as "normal". Now anyone or anything that challenges or questions them, is a bigot, racist, hateful, blahblahblah.
I'm not a Christian but I will stand with Christians.
In Georgetown’s case, they took Saudi money about 20 years ago and it has been straight downhill ever since.
You make a very good point. At base, all of this crap is ‘anti-Human’!
Is there an Islamic student group on campus, and do they support gay marriage?
Georgetown has a Muslim chaplain, dear lady.
Georgetown and Notre Dame are both jesuit schools. They covered the Crucifixes when nobama visited...
Notre Dame is not Jesuit. It’s Holy Cross Fathers (CSC).
Georgetown is where the cross was covered.
Notre Dame is where it was desecrated by being utilized as a political prop.
