Nearly 1.5 million Americans dropped off the food stamp rolls since President Trump’s inauguration in January 2017, according to the latest U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) statistics on food stamp enrollment. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participation dropped to 41,203,721 as of July 2017, the most recent data available from the USDA, from 42,691,363 in January 2017 when Trump took office.

According to the latest data, SNAP enrollment decreased by 3.48 percent, or 1,487,642, since Donald Trump began his presidency.

From May to July alone, nearly 400,000 Americans got off of food stamps, and the trend shows that enrollment has been consistently falling every month of Trump’s presidency.

Here is the breakdown of how many people dropped off the food stamp rolls each month of 2017:

January to February – 408,956 February to March – 95,152 March to April – 521,295 April to May- 176,527 May to June – 178,648 June to July – 236,417

I’d bet most of these people who dropped out were illeglas who shouldn’t have been getting support in the first place.

As usual, too lazy to open article. More strict enforcement? New requirements?

I bet the lunatic LIBs will say that they died because of some of President Trump’s cruel policies.

Yes they will do that. And they will say that too many are grappling with poverty, and they won’t consider it good news to have fewer getting food stamps.

I bet most of those who dropped out got jobs. Boosting the economy is the right way to reduce food stamps.

Trump gets it. Most of them in Washington D.C. don’t have a clue.

And see how there’s not starving bodies laying in the streets all over?

I think any illegal (or anyone for that matter) who scams benefits should be made to work to pay restitution.

It should be more than this number.

The America Hating, Piece of Work Obama had over 40 million folks on food stamps.

This needs to drop by at least 50% and preferably a lot more than 50%.

This responsibility should be given to churches that are not corrupt but will have the much needed willing resources like people to administer this program.

Food stamps are merely spending hard earned tax dollars for a program that should be administered by churches.

Our great country was not founded on giving out a free lunch but others have this type of thinking.

The goal of the progressive Democrat is to increase the number of people receiving assistance.

MSNBC will report; “Trump is starving 1.5 million. In other news, Trump walked across the Delaware showing the world he can not swim.”

Bingo.

Best Healthcare program: More jobs, good jobs in growing economy.

Best war-on-poverty program: More jobs, good jobs in growing economy.

Best anti-crime program: More jobs, good jobs in growing economy.

“they will say that too many are grappling with poverty”

Never specifying what “poverty” is.

The US “poverty line” views 80% of world population as “poor”.
A millionaire living off cash savings ($0/yr income) is deemed “poor”.
A significant fraction of the “poor” are wantonly obese.

I’m all for helping the poor: the _temporary_ poor (life threw a curve ball, need help getting back up), the _existential_ poor (can’t afford food/shelter, gonna die), the abject poor (incapable of sufficient productivity).

Alas, so many are “poor” because they either work the system for “entitlements” (to wit: their job is milking the system), or because government regulation stifles their opportunities (ex.: Obama ending coal mining) or drives up cost of living to infeasible (ex.: property taxes skyrocketing on owned lots). And there are some who make their profitable living off of “helping” the poor, and so in lieu of working themselves out of a job do what they can to ensure those deemed “poor” are growing in number, not shrinking.

A pity the language does not easily differentiate between the “deserving poor” vs “wanton poor”, and laws encompass the “clearly not poor” as poor due to lousy legislation.
