Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee released the following statement on Secretary DeVos decision to further delay the effective date of the borrower defense rule for another two years, which provides relief to students who have been defrauded by predatory for-profit colleges, including Corinthian Colleges. In June, Secretary DeVos delayed implementation of the rule, which was set to go into effect July 1, 2017. Todays notice delays the borrower defense rule until at least July 1, 2019.
Given the significant number of former for-profit college executives employed by the Department of Education, its no surprise Secretary DeVos is doubling down on her commitment to put corporations bottoms lines ahead of students and borrowers best interests. Instead of giving predatory corporations the green light to continue to take advantage of students, Secretary DeVos needs to stop these outrageous delays and start providing relief to the tens of thousands of students who have been cheated out of their education and savings.
I think we all know where patty gets her instructions from.
Here's an old song I like;)
I just wish she’d stop common core.
Murray needs to stop her BS obstructionism of everything PRESIDENT Trump tries to do. Until she does, she needs to kept her big mouth shut.
What is a College for profit? I thought all colleges worked out making a profit?
>>I just wish shed stop common core.

Me, too, but I’m not sure who actually has the authority to completely do away with it. Whoever it is, they should have already done it by now....right before they turned out the lights for good at the Federal Education Dept.
Don’t know,never went to college,went to work.
How about those defrauded by non-profit colleges?
Taught nothing but leftist indoctrination with no marketable skills but racking up hundreds of thousands of tuition debt.
Obama went after the for profit colleges because they were and are a threat to the non-profit system they control.
Maybe simpleton Murray can lend a hand to break the FOIA delays at IRS, DOJ and the FBI that go back years.
I did both. Worked for 50+ years and retired at age 69.
DeVos needs to get rid of common core and put God back in schools. Lets move!
There are colleges that are ‘not for profit’, but end up with billion dollar slush funds... er, endowments. Weird.
Sounds like they were a scam. What a shame that students trying to obtain a skill which will improve their life fall victim to this.
There much better.
If Murray is against it, it is probably the right thing to do.
