The article said “they” called her. It could be protocol that when a president calls someone the rep in that district is informed.

When a President makes a call like this it should be recorded for public record

General Kelly described the protocol in detail in yesterday’s press conference. No mention of informing the next of kin’s representative was mentioned.

Point is that the two were on the speakerphone _together_ likely by specific arrangement. Whatever the sequence of events, arrangements were made to ensure Wilson was there. Maybe Wilson was notified of the incoming call, but she still had to figure out how to be in the same room*, and likely shoved her schedule around hard to do so.

* - I’m struck by the fact that the call was taken in a _car_. If you knew (with 24 hour notice) that the President was going to call, would you seriously be in a CAR taking the call? on SPEAKERPHONE?
