HMCS Chicoutimi crossed the Pacific Ocean and arrived in Yokosuka, Japan on Tuesday evening.
Major Travis Smyth confirmed the sub's arrival. The sub's presence "underscores the commitment of the Canadian Armed Forces to the Asia-Pacific region," he said in an emailed statement.
This also marks the first time that any of Canada's four Victoria-class submarines have ever entered the Asia-Pacific region.
The overseas mission is scheduled to last until March 2018

Getting crowded over there.

I don’t know if it’s harder to believe that Canada has a submarine or that it’s capable of crossing the Pacific.

Guess they welded a cover over the screen door on this sub this time.

Canada is lucky to be adjacent to the US. I love Canada, but this is useless.

The latter. When the last bunch was purchased from the U.K., one of them barely made it across the Atlantic. I’m surprised that they let it attempt to cross the Pacific.

A half-century ago, Canada still had a carrier.

Yes, they do produce some great snipers.... and many other brave and outstanding warriors. My beef is not with the best of the Canadian military, which is very fine indeed, but with most of their worthless politicians.

It’s been 50 years since my first time in Yokosuka, 10 years since the last. Still wish I was there.

I have a hunch my 2000 Honda Civic makes less noise than this thing.
None the less, good to see Trudeau’s diverse crew (I can only imagine) make the cruise and show the Maple Leaf. Good for recruiting. /s

Give me a break. He was from 3rd,he’s still not 2nd heh.
As soon as it happened, my buddy from the 3rd texted me and asked how many records 2nd have. Don’t worry, it’s still 2nd battalion, 2nd to none heh. We have far too many records to count.
I can’t fathom being on one of those subs though. That’s not my idea of a good time.
