The two most recent presidents on Thursday blasted the state of US politics in events that were separated by less than 20 miles.
First, it was former President George W. Bush. The most recent former Republican president lambasted a political culture that caused "bigotry" to seem "emboldened." The public comments were Bush's most pointed since President Donald Trump took office in January.
"In recent decades, public confidence in our institutions has declined," the 43rd president said at an event in New York hosted by his namesake institute. "Our governing class has often been paralyzed in the face of obvious and pressing needs. The American dream of upward mobility seems out of reach for some who feel left behind in a changing economy. Discontent deepened and sharpened partisan conflicts. Bigotry seems emboldened. Our politics seems more vulnerable to conspiracy theories and outright fabrication."
The forum was branded as being "focused on freedom, free markets, and security." It featured speakers such as former first lady Laura Bush, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley. And Bush provided a substantial condemnation of the state of US politics.

Bush is disgusting. He was silent for 8 years during Obama's crimes. Of course this is coordinated.
May they both suffer shame and humiliation.
White supremacy my ass.....we are now in POST WHITE AMERICA where BLACKS RULE EVERYTHING!
The Bush family started the uniparty.
I have a word for W. It is like those stupid, knitted hats that protesters wore some time ago.
So, two of the fools who got us into this mess are now complaining about the mess.
Really—Trump should establish an elite military team whose sole job is to go kick the daylights out of people like Bush and Obama whenever they open their mouths.
Americans are stupid to have voted for Trump and they’re nativists, bigots and heartless dolts.
I’ve heard enough.
Yeah....Bush mentioned our “Governing Class”....pretty sure I don’t like the ring of that.
The “state of Politics” under W was no prize.
What “both parties”?
Bush’s bigotry against Trump supporters is hard to stomach.
One a squishy ass communist the other a RINO who is still pissed that his baby brother didn’t have the balls or the backbone to fight for the nomination. Jeb, like Hillary felt he/she was entitled to the crown. Looks like 43 thinks the same way.
Let's reconsider the dosage on those meds, shall we?
It really struck me the other day, after dealing with yet another person in a store who was fresh off the boat and didn’t speak English well at all (Nigerian would be my guess)— I NEVER encounter anyone with an Irish accent, a French accent, a Russia accent, etc.
The government clearly wants people from the Middle East, South America and Africa. Immigration preferences are based on skin color. Darker is better.
Note that I’m NOT being prejudiced. I’m not DOING anything. The government is doing something. The government is passing judgement on people with white skin. The government is racist. They want a post-White America.
The Man Behind The Curtain shrieked and wailed when Dorothy exposed him, too. Flak/target.
All the Bushes are scum.
Roger Corman presents “DC swamp zombies gone wild”.
I heavily supported Jorge in 2000, vociferously and financially (a lot of $$$), in the hope he would restore the principles of the Reagan Revolution and bury Gore with the disgrace of the Clinton era.
By 2005, having fought with so many others to get dubya both a GOP House and Senate, he dropped the all “big time”. How disappointing he was. He seemed to fold in with the democrats and by 2006, Pelosi was Speaker.
He really is better off laying low looking at the Texas sunsets.
“In recent decades, public confidence in our institutions has declined,” the 43rd president said
Mostly because the government has REFUSED to enforce the laws and stop the illegal alien inundation.
Slick Willy did a better job at enforcement than either Bush.
W and his daddy are the engineers of the Cheap Labor Express.
