Leftists and idiots versus Christians: The Left’s anti-religious push
Fergus Falls Daily Journal ^ | 10-17-2017 | Bill Shulz

America more and more resembles a cross between the Vatican and Disney World. Church-state separation activists regularly mount attacks on Christian influences in our culture, and embrace the Enlightenment doctrine of Descartes, “I think, therefore I am,” while defenders of God bow before “I am that I am.” The media circus bolsters Darwinism against creation beliefs with hundreds of irreverent covers of popular magazines asking, “Is God dead?,” and drive home their point with models of dysfunctional homes, relating statistics about drug abuse, divorce, abortion and depression. “The world isn’t safe anymore,” is frequently heard.

A prominent atheist gloats that “the Christian church will be dead and buried within 40 years.” Mark Looy, communications officer for Answers in Genesis (AIG) the parent organization of the Creation Museum in Kentucky noted that secular humanists are brazen, though less forthright about foisting their own creed on society: “While atheistic humanists argue there must be separation of church and state, they refuse to admit that their own belief system is, by the actual dictionary definition, religious. Correcting defining terms helps expose to the general world the hypocrisy of atheists who chant the mantra of church-state separation.”

Looy asserts, “Christians need to be careful not to let others set the terms of debate. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees the free exercise of religion among all Americans. The Founding Fathers believed all citizens, whether Christian or atheists, should be free to share their beliefs without the government abusing its power and imposing one set of beliefs over others.”

What honest observer could deny that Looy and his fellow Christians are right about these matters? Secular liberalism really is a religion in disguise, and even if Christians are paranoid about the left, that doesn’t mean the modern world isn’t out to get them. Churches are frequently vandalized, church cemeteries suffer attacks which ruin and destroy tombstones and monuments for the dead. The left is on the attack against persons who oppose abortion, accusing them of denying women “reproductive rights,” and labeling pro-life messages as “hate speech.” In several states, attempts have been made to enact laws to criminalize religious messages which oppose abortion or same-sex marriage. None have been enacted so far, but the left keeps trying.

The left also is relentless in turning science into anti-religious political pressure. Who, for example attacked James Watson and drove him out of his well-earned position in science? Watson, who earned the Nobel Prize for discovering the double helix structure of DNA also did extensive and long term research into IQ and how race may affect IQ. It wasn’t Christians or geneticists, but militant liberals who were offended that scientists offered research results that there can be at least some causal relationship between race and one’s innate intelligence potential. Although Watson and his team of researchers also offered means of educating intellectually disadvantaged people to enhance their potential, the liberals pressured press and educators to label Watson as racist and to squelch distribution or study of his notable research. But his genetic and DNA research still form the foundation of biological research, though the left still treat his IQ research with the same disdain as they show to Christian teachings.

And the left is shameless in asserting their version of morality to sway popular opinion in favor of their socialist agenda. For example, I have heard several prominent leftist Democrat members of Congress pouncing on the recent outrage in Las Vegas where hundreds were wounded and many killed by a sniper firing into a crowd of people attending a country music concert. In their frenzy to find any means at all to remove Donald Trump from the presidency and take away Republican control of Congress, they are trumpeting charges that Trump is a fascist dictator who wants his supporters to have guns to wage war on people who don’t agree with his actions. And what do they propose as a solution for all this? Confiscate all firearms. Huh? How does that work out, if you have a fascist dictator the way to be shed of him is to confiscate the means to resist the dictator? I shudder when I see that there are so many people who fall for that illogical argument and clamor to take away the protection which our Founding Fathers gave to us to protect ourselves in our homes and against government gone mad.

When it comes to speaking idiotically about matters that may be known by reasoning or experience, nobody outdoes today’s liberal progressive elites.

It is getting harder and harder to separate the American left from dogmatic, mindless, militant atheism.

Not really, that’s just where the road they’ve chosen leads.

[atheists] refuse to admit that their own belief system is, by the actual dictionary definition, religious.

Atheism is religion like not playing football is a sport.

We have some of those people here on Free Republic.
Very open about their belief that religious people should be excluded from public office among other places.

embrace the Enlightenment doctrine of Descartes, “I think, therefore I am,” while defenders of God bow before “I am that I am.”

To be fair to Descartes, the rest of his essay concluded with "therefore God exists". Descartes was disgusted by atheists, and a major purpose of his "Discourse on the Method" was to prove atheists wrong through logical reasoning.

We are at war. Losing means losing America and its freedoms and liberties, a terrible tragedy for our offspring.

Will we fight? When?

False analogy.

No Freedom from Football activist group. No ACLU lawsuits against sports bars.

Bad try.

Activist atheism certainly is: The etymology of the very word, religion, connotes reconnection - to a higher (or lower) purpose.

Militant atheists find their connection to purpose through attacking the unalienable right to practice by - especially - Christians.

Your assertions are sophistic.

A- means without. Atheism means without theism.
That shouldn’t be hard to figure out. Regardless,
I’m finished here.

It comes down to this always and fundamentally.

Anti-Christ vs God.

With abortion as the sacrament today.

It’s the same as Old Testament times. Nothing new under the sun.

“Atheism is certainly not.”

It’s a belief, ostensibly not a religion, but in contemporary times it has become a de facto religion.

As Thomas Paine pointed out in Common Sense, government is an evil which is only justified by skepticism towards society. It follows that extreme skepticism - cynicism - can be a rationalization of tyrannical government. “Liberalism” is cynicism directed at society and concomitant faith/naiveté directed at government.

Journalism easily defaults to cynicism toward society because “If it bleeds, it leads” disposes journalism toward the negative. Not only so, but journalism - knowingly negative - claims to be objective. The implication of that is clear; “the conceit that negativity is objectivity” is an excellent definition of “cynicism.”

Since cynicism is an antonym for faith, it is inevitable that “liberals” would be hostile to Christianity.
