Exclusive: Dem megadonor Steyer calls on govs, mayors to support impeaching Trump
The Hill ^ | 10/19/17 | Lisa Hagan

Posted on 10/19/2017 3:25:09 AM PDT by markomalley

Billionaire Democratic donor Tom Steyer sent a letter to mayors and governors urging them to publicize their stances on impeaching President Trump and call on federal lawmakers to support his removal from office.

Steyer addressed the letter to all 50 governors and 2,000 mayors of cities around the country, who he said, “have a duty to speak out.” He accused Trump of “violat[ing] the Constitution, the office of the Presidency, and the trust of the public.”

Steyer’s latest letter, obtained by The Hill, comes a week after he penned letters to Democratic congressional offices and Democrats’ House and Senate campaign committee, demanding that they support impeaching the president if the party regains control of Congress in 2018.

The Democratic megadonor and environmental activist points to criticism of Trump from within the Republican Party and his own Cabinet and condemns the president for “actively sabotaging” ObamaCare and his decision to pull out of the Paris climate change agreement.

With an eye on Democrats trying to take back the House and the Senate in 2018, Steyer said impeachment “becomes a very real issue should we succeed in our midterm goal.”

Democrats need to flip 24 seats in order to win the House majority and they have an even more uphill battle in the Senate, where the party is defending 10 seats carried by Trump last November.

“That makes it imperative for every Governor of every state, and every mayor of every city, to acknowledge where they stand,” Steyer wrote in the letter sent to lawmakers on Wednesday. “I am asking you today to make public your position on the impeachment of Donald Trump, and to urge your federal representatives to remove him from office at once.”

“Your constituents deserve to know they are represented by people in every level of government who have the patriotism and political courage to stand up and take action when it is so desperately needed.”

Steyer, who hasn’t ruled out a run for Senate in California, appeared to take several shots at Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), writing that there’s no time for “patience.” Feinstein irked many progressives after calling for “patience” when it comes to Trump’s presidency.

Feinstein, who recently announced she’s running for reelection, has already drawn a challenger from the left and Steyer, who spent around $91 million supporting Democrats in 2016, said in a statement last week that’ll he’ll make an announcement about whether or not he'll run “soon.”

I hope he keeps going with his efforts! The more people like him are active, the more the left reveals their true personalities...and the less likely they are to gain control in this country.

Democrat megadonor publicly trying to pull strings to impeach a president elected by voters is very revealing

This is shockingly stupid, even from the anti-American democrat perspective. They have been agitating for impeachment since Election Day, based on no crime other than intimidating and beating Hillary (assault and battery?). If they ever have a real “high crime or misdemeanor”, it will look like a continuation of this political witch hunt. I have to conclude that Democrats are morons, which is completely consistent with everything else I have seen from that socialist party.

The #1 lesson from this is the fact that these people see elections as meaningless, dangerous manifestations of the will of people who sometimes don’t agree with them.

I have money, the rest of you who voted in Trump don’t so shut up and go away so I can get politicians to listen to me and remove him from office.

I am convinced that this is all trolling for dollars. They CANNOT be all so idiotic as to think that there is a chance of a snowball on the sun for impeachment of Amendment 25. This is churning the base, getting activists to throw them money and getting MSM coverage.

If anyone wonders how Steyer got his billions, here are some facts from Wikipedia. A big chunk of his fund was invested in Correction Corp of America. Privately run prisons which the Dems and the left hate mightily. Another phony billionaire.

In January 1986, Steyer founded Farallon Capital, an investment firm headquartered in San Francisco, California.[14][15] Steyer made his fortune running Farallon, which was managing $20 billion by the time he left the company.[16] Steyer was known for taking high risks on distressed assets within volatile markets.[9]

The government at one time quite rightly went after big oil, big steel, big railroads, and big banks. It is now past time to take the Silicon Valley and hedge funder untouchables down a peg.

The losers are self-identifying as lunatics are in self-destruct mode with their insane blind hatred of the President. They have kept digging the hole deeper and deeper and are now at the bottom with impeachment and the 25th Amendment. I believe most of it is driven by fear their corrupt criminal enterprise activities will come to light if the President remains in office.

The only good that can come out of this is that we would know the truly stupid and mentally lame on a local more personal level.

IIRC then candidate Trump spoke several times about unfair tax advantages granted to hedge funds. Does the new tax proposal address this?

What illegal activities did President Trump do? Unless, it is ILLEGAL to beat Hillary - or any LIBERAL - in the general election for President, he didn't do anything to cause him to be IMPEACHED.

Our toddlers could teach Democrats to be nice losers...they don't throw temper tantrums if they lose...😀

Thanks; I’m shocked at their reactions to the election of Trump compared to how we sucked it up when that Muslim communist won twice.
