Scientists explore how climate change may affect mental health
AccuWeather.com ^ | October 16, 2017 | Courtney Barrow, AccuWeather staff writer

On the surface, climate change is taking its toll on the environment itself with rising temperatures, disappearing coastlines and destroyed ecosystems.

These changes can have an observable effect on people's physical health, but what about their mental health?

A study from March found that climate change can affect mental health following a major disaster, such as hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, or potentially have longer-term effects. While data is in its early stages, researchers say that over time, rising temperatures can lead to increased aggression, violence and depression in a region.

Dr. Susan Clayton, one of the professors on the study from Wooster College, said that while many long-term effects can only be speculated, it's likely that researchers will find more negative consequences.

"I think that the psychological impacts are at this point still less well-known than the geological impacts," Clayton said, "but I think they’re going to affect more of us and there’s every reason to think that they’re going to be pretty serious."

I actually agree with this article in some respects. Because I've long suspected a connection between supposed climate change and mental health.

Here's a perfect example...

Bernie Sanders: Climate Change is Directly Related To Terrorism

by Michelle Fields
Nov 14, 2015

"In fact, climate change is directly related to the growth of terrorism," said Sanders.

"And if we do not get our act together and listen to what the scientists say, you're going to see counties all over the world...they're going to be struggling over limited amounts of water, limited amounts of land to grow their crops, and you're going to see all kinds of international conflict."

Sanders said at the second Democratic debate in Iowa that climate change poses the biggest threat to America's national security and to security of the world. ..."

Here's another example that appears to support the claim...

Charles Manson, the notorious cult leader, has broken a 20-year silence in an interview from his prison cell to warn the world of an impending apocalypse due to global warming.

[snip]

Everyone’s God and if we don’t wake up to that there’s going to be no weather because our polar caps are melting because we’re doing bad things to the atmosphere,” he said.

The automobiles and fossil fuels are destroying the atmosphere and we won’t have air to breathe.

Bin Laden blasts US for climate change

CAIRO – Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden has called for the world to boycott American goods and the U.S. dollar, blaming the United States and other industrialized countries for global warming, according to a new audiotape released Friday.

In the tape, broadcast in part on Al-Jazeera television, bin Laden warned of the dangers of climate change and says that the way to stop it is to bring “the wheels of the American economy” to a halt.

Objection! Assumes facts not in evidence!

Major disasters indeed can affect mental health. There is still no link between climate change and weather. We are coming off a 14 years extremely calm hurricane pattern, so we cannot link the latest spate to climate change (Earth or supposed man-made).

You might as well link climate change to earthquakes, which affect mental health equally.

Jane Fonda sounds climate change alarm in Toronto
The Star ^ | July 4, 2015 | Christopher Reynolds

"The climate change problem is the issue of our civilization. It will affect everything about our lives if we don't do something about it," she [Jane Fonda] says.
___________________________________________________

November 22, 1970 -- During a fund-raising tour for GI deserters, Vietnam Veterans Against the War and the Black Panthers, Jane Fonda is quoted in the Detroit Free Press as telling a University of Michigan audience:

"I would think that if you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would someday become communist," and "The peace proposal of the Viet Cong is the only honorable, just, possible way to achieve peace in Vietnam."

The environment is suffering damage that could be irreversible — global warming, the greenhouse effect, the melting of the polar ice caps, the rising sea level, hurricanes — with terrible social occurrences that will shake life on this planet.”

“I believe this idea has a strong connection with reality. I don’t think we have much time. Fidel Castro said in one of his speeches I read not so long ago, ‘tomorrow could be too late, let’s do now what we need to do’.”

I believe it is time that we take up with courage and clarity a political, social, collective and ideological offensive across the world — a real offensive that permits us to move progressively, over the next years, the next decades, leaving behind the perverse, destructive, destroyer, capitalist model and go forward in constructing the socialist model to avoid barbarism and beyond that the annihilation of life on this planet.”

—Hugo Chavez, at the 16th World Festival of Youth and Students, held in Caracas on August 8-15, 2005

Fraud sold as science affects the mental health of those pretending sincerity and those frustrated with dealing with the scam.

Pseudo Scientific conjecture.

None of this is testable.

If you can’t test it and verify your hypothesis it is an untested theory and is not scientific fact.

Correlation is not confirmation. Many other things are linked to greater aggression; such as higher population density, changes in demographics and other things.

This is just politics playing at science.

A close look at the unadulterated climate data shows that sunspot-caused climate change brings about increases/decreases in CO2 rather than the other way around. Likewise, rather than climate change causing mental illness, I would state that group mental illness has caused the belief in manmade climate change.

"A hurricane is coming tomorrow mom"

"I love you mommy"

There you go. Sound mental health by government policy standards scale.

Right now there are over 43 million children in America unable to sleep because of the catalyst effects of climate change.

The sun came up.

Back in the day when we studied real siceince there was the concept of q10 on biological systems.

It is the effect of temperature ON biological processes, not biological processes on temp.

Q10 is a unitless quantity, as it is the factor by which a rate changes, and is a useful way to express the temperature dependence of a process.

Is there any mention of Q10 in any global warming report?

Isn’t this an oxymoron because anyone ‘studying’ the subject has already succumbed to the mental illness affecting the ‘observer’.
