Exactly - and he kept it funny, not cruel or vindictive. No matter what political persuasion you were, he never pushed you past a certain point.

Agree. And Leno was pretty evenhanded until Obama was elected. Despite a wealth of material (I’ve been in 57 states, McCain did not make fun of my Muslim faith, the podium with the ‘seal’ that said Office of the President-Elect), Leno wouldn’t make jokes about Obama, saying ‘he just isn’t funny’. EVERYONE on Late Night completely sold out to the ‘protect Obama’ crowd and that is when Late Night truly died.
