Between 2010 and 2016, 8.1 million new immigrants settled in the United States. New arrivals are offset by the roughly 300,000 immigrants who return home each year and annual natural mortality of about 300,000 among the existing foreign-born population.

They should shut down all immigration for at least a generation. I don’t care if they are from Guatemala or England, we have enough people.

That being said, we could do it like New Zealand — if your pockets are just overflowing with cash, then I suppose you can move here. But otherwise: No.

My grandparents spoke a language I do not speak (though I speak a few) because they insisted we break ties with our communist anti-semite old country. For the sake of “America,” they gave up their culture. Today’s immigrants seem to want to reap the benefits of freedom, capitalism, and a generous welfare program while proudly, openly despising the country they adopt. The notion of a woman wearing hijab after fleeing the country that forced it upon her - arriving here usually with claims of sexual oppression - is typical of this two-faced, ungrateful and pompous sentiment.

Close immigration for a generation, good idea.

We need to absorb those that are here and HELP THEM to BECOME Americans.

If they don’t want to make that journey to a better life, send them back.

Hmm, didn’t the Left tell us Colonization was bad?

When top level Western nations do it, they have a hissy fit.

The selling of America to foreigners. The fewer real Americans in the voting block and the more likely the “progressive” one worlders can reshape the Country to look like Afghanistan or Venezuela.

Isn't naturalization a natural kind? It appears all so called naturalization acts since 1870 are really UnNaturalization Acts. Congress only citizenship and immigration power is keeping USA the same natural kind via an uniform rule of naturalization. image

We need a 10 year immediate moratorium on all immigration into the U.S.

And it was needed years ago.

If 80% of foreign born citizens were voting for Conservative Republicans, our immigration rate would drop to zero.

they are including illegal in their stats... how do they know how many are illegals ?

The nation's immigrant population (legal and illegal) hit a record 43.7 million in July 2016, an increase of half a million since 2015, 3.8 million since 2010, and 12.6 million since 2000.

Deport every illegal. No exceptions. Change the law on birthright citizenship to match the Constitution - if you are not a legal resident and thus “subject to the jurisdiction thereof”, your kids do not get citizenship just for being born here. Then throttle immigration way down, perhaps to zero, or perhaps just close to zero.

Re: “How do they know how many are illegals?”

You won't like the answer...

Mostly from self-identification, in surveys and polls.

The U.S. Census Bureau and Pew Research (a private center-left think tank) are the two “most respected” sources for estimates about illegal immigrants.

They also use statistics from the IRS, Labor Department, welfare agencies, law enforcement, etc. to refine their estimates.

So, the “official” number is 11-12 million illegals.

But, if someone else claims 20 million, it is basically impossible to prove who is right and who is wrong.

Thanks. That has been the answer I’ve found everywhere i look.
Everything is based on estimates - of course, what else could they use. I understand that.

259 million people in US in 1993.
326 million in 2017. (Clinton- 8yrs\Bush -8yrs\Obama -8yrs\Trump <1)
Estimated 4 million illegals in U.S. in 1993. 12 million in 2007.
The number almost tripled in 14 years and then stayed the same or less the next 10 years that included 8 years of Obama ?

I don’t buy it.
