FORT WORTH - The corner of Lipscomb and Daggett, on the near Southside of Fort Worth, is where the co-owners of the Rainbow Lounge had planned to re-open their iconic gay bar that burned down in June. It was just blocks away from the bar's original location.
But Rainbow Lounge co-owner Tom McAvoy now tells WFAA that leasing issues in the multi-tenant building on Lipscomb have led them to decide not to re-open the well-known bar. In a message sent from Florida, McAvoy says he's "so sorry" feeling he's "let the community down."

Homos being homos. Perhaps the owners found their HIV meds more expensive than they counted on.
Financial problems?
We’ve had a few bars/restaurants around here ‘burn down’ over the years, and some were having financial difficulties. But only one that i know of got caught............on video from an ATM across the street, at 3AM going into the business with cans of gas..................
Well, darn. There goes the chance for President Trump to declare the “iconic” bar a National Historic Site like the Stonewall Inn in New York City.
Darn.
Yep who knows.
Assuming this establishment had good support from the customers, in this case the gay community, why wouldn’t they reopen after a fire? Something doesn’t add up. Insurance fraud may well be what is behind this.
I’m smelling insurance fraud
I noticed an add re floods, it showed a neighborhood under water, one house was on fire - the old insurance joke if your house floods and you do not have flood insurance, burn it.
What a great place to bring the family. Whoops!!! Not the gay bar, Fort Worth. :-)

That’s what happens when you have too many flamers in it...
:RIMSHOT:
A Dallas area sales rep once tried to get a bunch of us to go into the place “for a drink”, leaving out any mention of the “gay” aspect. But one of the group was savvy and we all refused to go in, spoiled the joke. Now I see it’s been killed with fire, good.
Ohhhh!
I remember when Caligula’s burned down. For years they could not even sell the property. I think it is still empty. Sorta like it may have been cursed. HA!
“iconic” now that’s a good descriptor for a bathhouse bar where coprophiliacs go to hook up, consume feces with other males, and vector diseases to wirgin little boys.
Agree; sure smells like insurance fraud. Seen it too many times.
Yeah cause there’s no heteresexual crooks.
Being conservative doesn’t have to mean being ignorant :)
They are sinning and I pray for them and God will judge them.
But what an absurd comment.
Maybe neighborhoods dont want fags loitering around there hoods’.
The one that burned probably housed more pathogens than the Centers for Disease Control.
Absolutely nothing in my post implied otherwise. Homosexuals have numerous problems acting ethically due to a warped conscience. That is all I'm saying. I've seen this first hand several times.
I'm a local, so I know there's some truth to that statement. It IS embedded in an old neighorhood, and have read of many problems that bar caused residents, from used condoms strewn around in people's yards, to urinating and patrons passing out in or near private property.
I'm sure property owners were overjoyed when it burned.
that place has been there for decades at least since the late 80’s.
I had a friend, a co-worker, who turned 21 and asked me to be his designated driver.
Imagine my surprise when pulled into the parking lot of the Rainbow Lounge.
It was the single most uncomfortable night of my life.
But I gave a friend my word to be his transportation home, and I did so.
Didn’t really talk to him much after that, as you might imagine.
