Donald Trump's Middle East masterstroke
americanthinker.com ^ | Joe Herring and Mark Christian

"Why does he keep stirring the pot?" "He should just keep his mouth shut and do his job!"

I'm sure you've heard many express these sentiments regarding Trump and his penchant for tweeting, commenting, and poking at the perpetually aggrieved left and their fellow travelers in the "Never Trump" establishment.

But while you (and the media) were distracted by the latest shiny object dangled by the president, some tectonic plate-shifting occurred in the Middle East.

Representatives of Hamas and Fatah (competing groups seeking control over the Palestinians) have met in Cairo at the invitation of Egypt's President El-Sisi to craft a governing coalition, forming a single unified Palestinian government.

While fronted by El-Sisi, the meeting was proposed and supported by Trump. Unlike his predecessor, who crowed "historic achievement!" every time he suggested everyone just get along, Trump wisely remained in the background, avoiding the inevitable resistance occasioned by direct U.S. involvement in the talks.

This promises to be an entirely Arab, entirely Muslim solution, palatable to the so-called "Arab street." It may be an agreement also acceptable to the other regional powers, who have been casting about for a non-Western counter-balance to the fanaticism of ISIS and the caliphate-builders.

How do we know this? As a show of good faith, Hamas just dropped a dime on the locations of ISIS cells along the Egyptian-Israeli border.

Against this backdrop, one of the most pernicious purveyors of anti-Israel bias in the region, UNESCO, the United Nations "cultural heritage" arm, has suffered a devastating loss in their ongoing attempt to declare millennia-old Jewish sites wholly Muslim and therefore rightly "Jew-free."

Trump has directed the United States to ditch UNESCO and has declared the U.S. withdrawal effective immediately. The withdrawal of the U.S. (...primary funder of UNESCO) ensures that the 800-pound gorilla will...

I have lately noticed the tide changing ever so slightly in Trump's favor.

There is more and more of a realization that he is going to be a really good President...even a great President.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that he is going to set a new standard for what a successful Presidency is.

I sense the same thing. It seems that the chorus of hatred from the left is becoming background noise. Although it would be nice to hear that eight years of malaise has quickly turned around under President Trump, the people seems to realize this.

President Trump seems to be bringing down the weasel leftist politicians, the corrupt media, and the dregs in Hollywood simultaneously....and for good measure, he’s reshaping the world and America’s standing. That’s quite the feat.

Amazing how such a buffoonish, racist, misogynist, mentally ill, narcissistic, sociopath like Trump according to the progressive left and anti-Trumpers is running circles around the status quo navel gazing idiots who think they are our betters...

Still waiting for WWIII to start...!

Anecdotally ... NPR has been less obnoxious (a 9 instead of a 10 on a scale of 1 to 5) ... and NYT released its guidelines for not acting like whiny children on social media.

Definitely not a deceleration of evil, but a regrouping of evil. I think they see the current rants and acting out aren't helping the cause.

Currently the only successful anti Trump movement is coming from Republicans themselves blocking policy.

I think it snowballs from here.

They’ve thrown everything possible at Trump. They will not stop, but they are basically out of ammunition now. Meanwhile, he has been lining up his pieces, shifting people in and out of positions as necessary. Building relationships around the world. He’s going to start his second year in office ready to really rock and roll.

This is outstanding!

Much like the liberal outrage over Trump cancelling the subsidies to the Insurance cartel.

And as a Born Again Believer, I think, if they DO cobble together some kind of “peace” agreement, vis-a-vis Israel, it will hold together approximately 3 1/2 years. ARE YOU READY?

Yep.

Unlike Obama, businessman Trump knows that you never promise more than you can deliver or you'll have a p!ssed off client.

And when you start out with half the electorate hating your guts, you have nowhere to go but up.

And WE, proudly, helped make this happen...be it ever so small an effort. Being a member on a winning team is so much more enjoyable than being a follower victim on a losing one.

I have lately noticed the tide changing ever so slightly in Trump's favor.

There is more and more of a realization that he is going to be a really good President...even a great President.

I have been tracking the Trump WINS

Noticed a growing intensity in both significance and frequency of the WINS

My theory is that Trump is using the Cloward-Piven strategy in reverse

That is the rate of WINS and the diverse nature of the WINS overwhelms the opposition

Before they have their focus groups...Delphi sessions...assessments....polling etc ...Trump hits them with another

Take the DACA for example...Pelosi and Schumer heard what they wanted to hear.

Trump then comes out with what he wants. “””

he is going to be a really good President...even a great President
