This link has a good accounting of Paddock’s probably shots, “spray and pray,” and otherwise. Most of his crowd shots were bump stock aided, but not all.
He likely fired 1003 shots into the crowd in ten minutes.
Perhaps he means troopers were limited by decree to short bursts, which is easily done if one tries.
I am not sure what he meant by “buffer” problems?
Indeed, the A2 was fielded in the early 80s with three round burst only ( however, experimental versions included semi, 3 round burst and FA).
Obviously apples and pomegranates. Go ahead select full auto.
Can't afford it. But militaries around the world have millions of them. Probably to shoot some people if needed.
If anyone condemns the bump stocks, I know immediately they don’t know crap about automatic weapons.
Therefore, when firing full auto, the second round(Out at a hundred yards or so)is way over the head of the third target. The rest of them are in the air somewhere, killing tree monkeys and hitting coconuts.
This douche simply hosed the crowd, and even then with the amount of rounds expended, did not reach near the hits he would have gotten with a scope and semi auto.
The tracer was invented for (drum roll) to be able to aim the hose while on auto.
Maybe. I don't know.
Don't know how may rounds he fired.
Don't know how many he wounded. I've read 400 wounded but maybe 350 had twisted ankles or were treated for shock.
And I don't know what kind of marksman he was. Or how well his scopes were dialed in.
I don't think the headline “Vegas Gunman's Use of Bump Stock Reduced Casualties” is going to be persuasive with the anti-gun crowd - if that was the purpose of the article.
I beg to differ.
His bump stock did make him more effective due to the fact his target covered several acres. If his target were individuals it would have been an inferior weapon.
I do not want to outlaw the bump stock nor anything that compromises the second amendment. I have weapons and do not have a bump stock. Some of my weapons could be used with a bump stock. I do not need that but do not want them made illegal. I have shot with a bump stock and it was fun. My accuracy using a bump stock was very poor.
Actually the three round burst that is used in our present small arm weapons of war are the most effective. You can get off one round that is accurately aimed and two that are pray and spray. You can repeat in less than a second. Three round burst is good as a weapon of war. Full auto is good for an area weapon. Our troops carry weapons in the class of pray and spray that are area denial weapons. They can be devastating. That is why we carry different types of weapons.
If one researches the origin of the second amendment it was really about an armed populace being able to restrain a tyrannic central government. We had just won a war against one King George of England, and thanks to the French. If not for France we would have lost. We paid them back in full in WWI and WWII.
Our brilliant leaders of the past realized that without restraint our new and grand experiment as a Republican Democracy could also descend into tyranny if there were no restraints on government. That is why they in their great wisdom they gave us the second amendment along with the other nine amendments. They were brilliant.
“From time to time the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots. It is its natural manure.” Thomas Jefferson
He was a wise man.
Yes, you are correct, as support troops our brigade only issued semiauto m16s. We were taught rapid fire 3 rounds on target.
The Army did a refit in late 1967 replacing recoil spring guides with buffers to reduce malfunctions.
If they could turn the moon into a magnet to suck up every gun, they would, well except for themselves, you see.
THEY know how and to employ guns, just ask them.
Talking to an anti gunner is on par with talking with a chicken.
Hmmm, Never heard of any M16s, or A1s being anything but select fire, semi or FA.
Certainly could understand select fire M16/A1s outfitted with selector switch limitors, but never heard that the Army bought any AR15s.
Recoil spring guides? Okay, that must be something lost in history-M16s always had buffers and springs. I’ll have to educate myself a bit more. Got any sources for this topic?
“”...Interstate 91 ..”
Wrong!
Not necessarily. Could simply mean he had a half baked plan. Crazy does that.
“Most of his crowd shots were bump stock aided, but not all.”
Some of the talkkng heads have said it’s possible/probable bump stock was used, but not certain. Although found in the room it may not have been used. I’m sure LE has has done tests and knows for sure one way or the other, but we’ll only know if they want us to know.
There is zero evidence that Paddock was crazy, other than that law enforcement so far has been unable to determine, or unwilling to inform the public of his motive.
I am astounded by the claim that we most likely will never know his motive, because ya’know, he flipped.
Has there ever been another mass murderer in US history that LE has been unable to explain in terms of the life circumstances of murderer?
Right now, they have not even provided the public with enough information to prove that Paddock was in fact the shooter.
There is no evidence that says he wasn’t crazy, in fact there is a great deal the says he had very unusual behavior at times. The varying accounts of people that interacted with him are telling. Some say he never drank. Others say he did and there is at least one image of him with what appears to be an adult beverage in his hand. Others say he was very controlling of the woman, her family says not. He is/was known here in Reno as is his GF. The people I know that had occasion to see him in a casino refer to him as an “arrogant prick” and a lousy tipper.
Yes there have been other cases in the US where motive was only theorized not defined specifically. Mass murder is insane by definition. The human need to label behavior is interesting and odd to me.
None of the details in you first paragraph could possibly lead to a conclusion of insanity.
And mass murder, by definition, is not insane. Evil yes, insane, no.
Were the 911 hijackers insane?
