Germany warns Donald Trump against decertifying Iran deal

The German government has warned the US against withdrawing from the Iran nuclear agreement. US President Donald Trump is expected to decertify Tehran’s compliance with the 2015 deal in a White House speech at 12:45 p.m. (16:45 UTC) on Friday.

“We believe this agreement is an important instrument to prevent a nuclear-armed Iran,” German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said on Friday. “If … an important country like the United States comes to a different conclusion as appears to be the case, we will work even harder with other partners to maintain this cohesion,” he said.

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel on Thursday said that any move by US President Donald Trump’s administration to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal would drive a wedge between Europe and the US. “It’s imperative that Europe sticks together on this issue,” Gabriel told Germany’s RND newspaper group. “We also have to tell the Americans that their behavior on the Iran issue will drive us Europeans into a common position with Russia and China against the USA.”

Despite countless warnings from global leaders and even from within his own administration, Trump is expected on Friday to unveil a new strategy on confronting Iran, which would include “decertifying” Iran’s compliance to the nuclear accord. The deal, which was reached in 2015 between Iran and international powers, saw international sanctions related to Iran’s nuclear program lifted in exchange for Tehran dismantling its nuclear program. …

Why to we continue to subsidize Germany’s defence?

“...would drive a wedge between Europe and the US.” The wedge between the USA and Western Europe has been there for more than two decades. At every turn the EU bureaucrats have opposed the US. France is a sometime and very reluctant friend. NATO is a sham. London has given way to Londonistan and its Lord Mayor is a Yankeephobe. Ireland issues a stamp commemorating Che Guevara. Italy and Spain don’t count. Etc., etc., etc. When you hear the wedge argument, scrutinize carefully the proponent. Likely it is a decadent east coast elitist who enjoys hobnobbing with Eurotrash.

It must be remembered who co-signed the deal with Iran, i.e., Russia, China, US, Germany, France, and the EU. I guess in this case, collusion with the Russians is a good thing.

We weren’t suppose to allow them to have a defense force, originally, per the declaration at the Yalta conference. Now they’re being sneaky about incorporating the militaries of other European countries into the Bundeswehr, as a preliminary for that European military they’ve always wanted. If they’re “warning” us without such a force, imagine what they’d do if they got it.

I think Germany isn’t concerned about Iran nuking them because in a few years the Muslim population in Germany will be huge and they won’t have to worry about being nuked.

Economics was big in the Iran deal according to El Rushbo who pointed out that Boeing was going to get a deal with Iran because of sanctions being lifted. It involves some 100 airliners I believe.

Airbus is also planning to sell the Iranians 80 aircraft.

I would like to know if President Trump’s actions will lead to the Boeing deal with Iran being shut down.

Time to close Rhein Main AFB and associated facilities. Then build a nice new AFB in Poland. The Poles will roll out the red carpet for us and we won’t need to deal with this garbage from Germany.

Has anybody alerted these dolts that Obama and the gonad challenged Republicans are no longer at the helm?

POTUS has been so undermined by his own party and the media that these foreigners feel free to flip the bird at the USA.

That wouldn’t stop Iran either way.

Besides, there’s still that unreported pushback against Islam there. Remember that this flood of “refugees” was a “beneficial crisis” to get the people to surrender their freedom in exchange for government-provided security.

A new Axis is formed.

Maybe they will show the world who they are by invading France.

Oh she'll get the German army to fire all them fake bullets they keep training with. For a country that has gutted defense spending for decades and has ZERO capability to project military force outside of Europe, they sure talk big.

Re Germany declared war on us:

I think that if Hitler could have had a do-over, he would have taken one here. But, we probably would have gotten involved anyway—FDR wanted to, and Winston Churchill was understandably urging him to do more than just supply materiel.

No, he would not have. The point of the Molotov-Ribbentrop was to keep Russia off his back so he could fight on one front, including the Atlantic, and secure that before turning eastward. He actually did think he was going to succeed in conquering the planet.

It’s more likely a case of what she won’t do. Germany and the other parties to the agreement will likely ignore our decertification and refuse to support new sanctions on Iran. That will leave the United States essentially isolated.

They don’t have to. They’ve had France under their thumb for decades.
