It’s an ASSAULT RIFLE (insert ominous echo) why would ISIS NEED (Insert ominous echo) one.
One could theorize (just a guess) that if you were some ISIS planner and working up some big campaign in the future...that someone referred you to this retired accountant who did a lot of stuff for cash. Maybe Campos was a middle-man...just helping to move the weapons to the hotel room from the vehicle.
If the deal went bad though, you’d assume the buyers would want to remove the weapons and move on. Maybe Campos freaked out....left.
Perhaps the sting was directed towards an ISIS cell - like the one discovered in NYC about the same week? In which case, they would only need the few high powered weapons and explosives that Paddock offered. Since ISIS has been caught in a couple of these stings, they had a plan to turn the tables on the FBI should this arm deal be a set-up?
He had more weapons at home plus a car full of explosive stuff.
In other parts of the world, they can certainly get all the rifles they need. For an attack here, they’d have to get guns somewhere.
