First it was Confederate generals. Then Christopher Columbus.
Opponents of the ongoing effort by the so-called progressive left to remove America's historical statues and monuments they don't like warned it wouldn't stop there. It didn't.
While the student government at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (ASM) hasn't demanded the removal from campus of a statue of Abraham Lincoln perhaps they knew it would be a nonstarter they have demanded a plaque be placed near the statue of America's 16th president.
As reported by The Daily Cardinal, the ASM called on UWM to acknowledge, on the plaque, Lincoln's brutality towards indigenous people.
Spoiler: It ain't gonna happen.
ASM Chair Katrina Morrison explained the reason for the demand:
We wanted a plaque near Lincoln because we wanted the university to recognize his part in the Dakota 38 massacre. I think that [not putting a plaque on the statue] is a mistake, and I think that the history is irrefutable. It is clear that he played a huge role in the massacre and was killing innocent people for no reason.
As is the case with art, history is often in the eye of the beholder including the 1862 execution of 38 Dakota tribesmen in Mankato, Minnesota.
UWM Chancellor Rebecca Blank, who told the Cardinal there are no plans to place a plaque on Lincoln's statue, had a different take than that of the ASM, saying Lincoln played a restraining role in the mass execution:
[Lincoln] insists on personally weeding through all of this, and he ends up saying Im only going to take the sentences of those who we have evidence, witness evidence, that they were involved in either killing or raping, and everyone else we are going to dismiss charges on.
Blank said Lincoln refused a territorial governor's proposal to execute 350 men for murder and other outrages, including rape, commuting the sentences of all but 38.
She explained the purpose of Lincoln's statue on the UWM campus:
Abe is actually here because he was the person who really created public universities in the states throughout this country in a very real way. do not see a reason to prominently label [the executions] on the Lincoln statue.
But Mariah Skenandore, co-president of the indigenous student organization Wunk Sheek, said she's triggered by the statue every time she sees it:
They dont acknowledge the impact that it is having on their students, and Im impacted by [seeing the statue] every day. I think the plaque is the least the university can do.
Sometimes, in today's hyper-charged political environment, sensible lines are drawn in the sand and not allowed to be crossed. UWM Chancellor Rebecca Blank just drew one of those lines.
Disband student government.
I have to wonder if these snowflakes even know what the word “indigenous” means. I bet they think it’s a color.
No.
Now, please take your seats for a surprise cumulative quiz which will be 25% of your grade.
Psychosis.
How about his brutality against Americans?
He sicced war criminals on the civilian populations of New Orleans, Georgia, and the Shenandoah Valley.
Is there anything liberals don’t “think” they know as truth ?
The statue of Abraham Lincoln is situated on Bascom Hill, the central part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The statue is seated, and it is widely believed that each time a virgin female passes before the statue, Lincoln rises and bows.
In all of collective memory of the Madison Campus, this has never happened.
Since this is obviously not driven by anti-racism, it shouldn’t be too long before the wolves start eyeing MLK Jr. Once that happens, obama should start worrying, because the mob will have raged beyond his control and all those statues he’s envisioning will never be raised.

Correct, only about 10% of southern population owned slaves, and like the revolutionary war only about half were for secession. My grandmother told us stories of her grandmother talking about hiding in the swamps in southern ga when Sherman’s men came through. They didn’t own slaves, just small farmers, but the cabin and barn were burned and the livestock was taken.
The hangings of the Sioux after the Dakota uprising was justified. The Sioux committed numerous cold blooded murders of unsuspecting farmers in that uprising.
I “demand” that ALL members of this idiot student government be thrown out of school by 1pm today.
“Disband student government.”
These people who make demands should just be told to shove it up their ass and then be ignored.
They were given power by the university leadership.
Why?
Who is in charge? Shouldn’t the university president be?
Why have he and his faculty abdicated their proper role?
Such idiocy...
If ever there were a time that revealed the problems of these types of student tribunals, this would be one.
End them. Get back to education and leave the social justice to people with a functioning brain.
Perhaps if that student government learned of the fact that it was democrats who are responsible for most of the historical racist views and actions in American history, they would demand that the democratic party be disbanded.
And, no!!!, excusing the party because it’s not what it used to be is a non-starter, because, the statues and plaques of the confederate soldiers, are also about the past. If one group can be condemned for it’s way past history, then, so can the democrats whose history is not so far in the past.
So, let’s disband the democratic party, because they are the ones most responsible for racism against blacks and for holding them back, even today.
EXPEL the whole bunch for being too immature for College.
Parents should demand that their kids shut the F up and professors teach without the Liberal spin. In 1976, my accounting professor told us to vote Jimmy Carter. I asked her what does Voting for that peanut farmer do with accounting? My PoliSci professor told us that if you vote for Jimmy Carter you will get a better grade. I got a C, because I told her that I’ll vote for Reagan then Ford. My PoliSci professor hated me... I’m glad I lived at home. I had fun in that class...
Sheridan was right...
