In a blunt and personal attack on outgoing ambassador John Bass, Erdogan suggested Bass acted unilaterally in suspending visa services in Turkey after the arrest of a U.S. consulate worker, and said “agents” had infiltrated U.S. missions.

No way does an ambassador make that decision without consulting first with Washington. Erdogan is going off the deep end.

Our ally is arresting our embassy workers? Our diplomatic immunity workers and the family members of the one they cant catch?

He might need to Noriega treatment. Or the JDAM treatment.

All embassies run local spies and all host countries allow it.
This arrest is not a cause but a symptom.

Off the deep end

Be irrationally carried away, act irresponsibly or heedlessly. For example, Just because you like her looks doesn't mean you should go off the deep end and propose. [c. 1920] In both of these colloquial usages deep end alludes to the deep end of a swimming pool.
