LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock police confirm that a Texas Tech police officer has been shot and killed at Texas Tech Police Headquarters.
It happened around 7:45 p.m. on Monday night at the Texas Tech Police building at 413 Flint Avenue. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old freshman Hollis A. Daniels, was taken into custody at 9:28 p.m. according to officials with the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office. He was located near Jones AT&T Stadium.
Officials with Texas Tech University say since the Daniels was taken into custody, the lockdowns at Texas Tech University and University Medical Center have been lifted. Officials say people need to avoid the Texas Tech Police Department and the north side of campus.
Texas Tech officials tell us they did a welfare check on a student, found drugs and drug paraphernalia in his room and brought him in, once at the PD building, the student pulled a gun and shot the officer in the head, killing him. Then the student fled on foot.

Yes. That’s not my point.
Even though the student was too young to legally concealed carry, was too young to legally own a handgun and was in university housing where it is illegal to possess a gun without a CCW.
It was a student brought in for questioning after drug paraphernalia found in his room. Why he wasnt patted down I dont understand ! He shot the officer IN the campus police headquarters !
Must not have searched him if he got a gun into the police station.
Why was he not in handcuffs.
Note that responsible adults are now allowed to carry concealed on campus in Texas.
Let’s see if there are any mass shootings here.
As of this coming March my son will be one of those responsible adults who has the means of defending himself and his family.
I was wondering how the heck they “took him in” and permitted him to carry, for crying out loud.
What you report makes much more sense.
