Many black Americans have a bit of Indian ancestry (and even more have some European ancestry). Except for immigrants from Africa in recent times, the black Americans of today would not exist if Columbus had never sailed, even those of 100% sub-Saharan ancestry. Their African ancestors lived in various places in Africa and would never have met and produced offspring with their other African ancestors if they had not been forcibly removed from their African paradise and brought to the New World.

Of course slavery was horrible, but so was Aztec human sacrifice and Mongol massacres and a lot of other human actions in the past. Perhaps the energy would be better directed to getting rid of slavery where it still exists.

Not to mention that slavery has been practiced by pretty much every ancient civilization at one time or another. Some act as though southern, white Americans invented the idea.

Another point: Black Africans were enslaved and sold initially by other black Africans.
