Imagine you had a fourteen year old son, small for his age, enduring what girls and women commonly endure. From men. Tell him about first world problems.
Dang, that was positively Steynian! LOL
It was wasn’t it.
Of all the excellent articles he’s written, I think this is my favorite. He exposes the left’s preening hypocrisy with a deft and humorous scalpel.
Schlichter BUMP!
Seriously?! I was a cocktail waitress in nightclubs. I had a great time and survived unscathed.
‘Its more than one peon asking for a phone number. Its a daily gauntlet.’
Brie, is that you...? want some whine with that cheese...?
Hollywood is the propaganda arm of the Bolsheviks, nothing more. They don’t portray life in America; they portray life as they think it should be.
When you watch this unfold over decades, you understand better the reactions to communism throughout Europe in the 1920s and 1930s. Citizens of European countries understood their very cultures and the concept of nations themselves were under attack, and embraced anyone who would protect their ways of life.
‘I had a great time and survived unscathed.’
what, you mean you didn’t have to do a daily run through a double line of leering, whistling men attempting to undress you with their eyes...?
I had such a son. He wasn’t small for his age; he was fat. And he was bullied mercilessly.
Today, he is an Air Force Tactical Air Control/JTAC cwndidate.
Adversity challenges some people. It conquers others.
Schlichter has recently earned his way onto my Running Late Rule list along with Steyn and Coulter. The rule says that no matter how pressed I am for time, if I see his byline, I read the whole article (no matter what it is I’m supposed to be doing). Good stuff.
I got over it too. But unwanted advances and insults from men were a daily stressor for me for years. One event, you shrug off. A constant stream of them shouldn’t be dismissed by those who haven’t lived through it.
Huck Follywood!
I guess it affects differet women differently. I suspect some women would have been flattered by thr attention. But guys can be real schmucks about that stuff too.
Actually, growing up in CA, TX, and Kansas, I can’t recall but very few young males that weren’t bullied, especially when they were 14 and in High School with seniors. It was a daily occurrence. I went to 3 high schools and was bullied in every one of them, but I was nothing special, most of the other younger kids were bullied too. WE all just simply learned to live with it.
I despise most of Hollywood, and all of the left there and elsewhere. Communism and socialism are nothing less than organized crime rings.
Most definitely; the politics of envy...
You said it and said it well.
