Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is wearing custom cleats with the words "Pray For Vegas" on the side in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions.

The shoes pay tribute to those affected by the mass shooting in Las Vegas last Sunday.

didn't the Dallas Cowboys want to honor the cops murdered by a Black Lives Matter protester? The NFL said NO to that, right?

I have NO PROBLEM with the Vegas victims being honored. The hypocrisy of the NFL is what is sickening.

Another reason I quit watching.

This is why the NFL can't claim to be merely respecting the free expression of its athletes. Disrespecting the flag and anthem is fine, maybe even encouraged, but showing respect for police officers is expressly prohibited.

It’s clearly stated in the NFL rules that any such expression of support must be done with the league’s approval.

If they approved the Vegas cleats, so be it. If not, it’s further proof that they are politically motivated hypocrites.

They are still hypocrites if they approved it. Why didn’t they approve the Cowboys’ tribute to the murdered police or the single player’s tribute to the victims of 9-11? Leftism uber alles.

Did Newton ask permission, or simply put on what he wanted? It’s easier to get forgiveness than permission!

The NFL is in the worst possible situation for a company. They have policies on the books that are clear in their meaning yet they allow one person to violate policy X, while the next player may not violate policy X and is fined for doing so. I smell a big discrimination lawsuit at some point. Goodell and the owners are spineless, partisan idiots and deserve what is coming their way.
