Why wouldn’t it stand a chance? I mean, it’s not like Congresscritters aren’t selfless servants who shun self enrichment, would abhor the opportunity to engage in insider trading or else manipulate regulations and bidding processes to favor them and their freinds, is it? Surely they would all support such a law to prove their worthiness as public serpents, er, servants! < — . ^ >

Its amazing. When these intellectual guys go all weepy-eyed and hype up the necessity of having long-term people....then you look over at McCain and McConnell to demonstrate their incompetence over and over, and wonder about all this complex material talk.
Not just that - when you have people who look at Congress as a career and plan on being there for a few decades, their #1 priority will always be fundraising for the next election. That means being bought off by large companies and industries. The needs of their subjects, I mean constituents, will always be trailing far behind the needs of the next campaign and the donors.
