Johnny Carson is turning over in his grave...

Even though Carson was by all accounts as much a Hollywood liberal in his private life as any other star. He knew his job, as late show host, was to put politics aside while he entertained and calmed down his audience after a stressful day. I can pretty much guarantee in his 42 years he never went on a political diatribe that ended in weeping.

Carson was a consummate professional at what he did. Understood his job, understood his audience. If he would have wandered off from that at anytime during his 42 or so years, he would have flamed out in no time and been only a curious footnote in entertainment history.
