District of Columbia officials announced Thursday they will not appeal a federal court ruling that struck down parts of the citys restrictive gun laws, a move that paves the way for more gun owners to obtain concealed carry permits.
In June, a federal appeals court ruled against a D.C. law that requires people to have a good reason to fear injury in order to carry a handgun, saying it infringes on residents' Second Amendment rights. Because of the stringent requirement, only about 120 people currently have a permit to carry a concealed handgun in the city.

Excellent.
Bring that to Los Angeles County, California.
It could use a double helping.
Amen, my sister went thru the hoops and got one in Orange County a few years back but is concerned now the sheriff won’t renew.
Thanks. I’d like to have one, so I am very much interested in this.
Wonder if Maryland heard about this?
Maryland legislators begin by reading the Communist Manifesto. Then they read Das Kapital, Mein Kampf, and the Sayings of Chairman Mao. Then they cycle back to the Communist Manifesto.
The elites in DC will always have a gun to protect themselves!
THIS is what winning looks like.
I wouldn’t be so hasty. I’m sure they’re going to try to find a way to still make it difficult, like charging exorbitant fees.
This bunghole in the picture in the article is Karl Racine, City Attorney. Karl was born in Haiti. And in this picture, he look like he’s getting ready to suck a tennis ball through a garden hose (or maybe some “similar kind of activity!”).
YES, it’s great for a change to win.
LOL! Agreed.
Good point.
A big city liberal mayor is actually going to follow the rule of law.
Did Hell freeze over?
Did the fat lady sing?
Did I marry Jennifer Lawrence.
This is astounding news. It is going to be hilarious watching the liberal cabal try to ignore the plunging crime rate in DC after law abiding citizens become free to defend themselves.
You assume most of them know how go read. I emailed my delegate yesterday suggesting they ban tall buildings. For safety you know.
This is not good news for those of us in the people’s republic of Kalifornia. If DC had appealed, there would have abeen a split between the DC Circuit and the 9th Circuit. Recall the Peruta case. Now we are stuck here in Kali until another conflict arises and manages to get to the Supremes.
I could make a snide remark about Maryand public schools ...
On tonight’s news, the mayor specifically said that one big reason she didn’t appeal was that she didn’t want the Supreme Court to overrule the decisions affecting Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and California. She received phone calls from at least the AG of Maryland and probably the others.
I don’t understand, because a defense by one (D.C.), was a defense for all (it seems to me).
Was that merely an appeals court ruling? Drat!
