China’s shipbuilding capacity, for warships, is less than either the US or Japan.
They have a ways to catch up.
With effort, they could. And both the US and Japan could significantly increase too.
The technology gap is still significant too. Our stuff is better across the board. And the Japanese get access to any and all of it.
