I did not know his car was by jet fuel tanks. I assumed it was just parked on the street in front of the hotel.

Suddenly the concept has more “teeth”.
I don’t think we know where the car was parked, at least I have yet to see that detail anywhere confirmed. Nothing I have seen suggests it was within visual range of the shooter(s), though of course we have to find out if that was part of the plot, potentially. It may be that the materials in the car were for later, or were for other aspects of the plot that were not carried out.
People are posting various speculations as though they were facts. I wish everyone would be very careful to distinguish what seems to be confirmed ***FACT*** and what is merely FReeper speculation at this point.
