My point is that if he picked a very unfeasible tactic for setting off a big fiery explosion, then that points away from any professional or “military” level planning, and tends to support the idea that he was a lonely amateur, maybe a “lone wolf” maybe not. Maybe there was a larger plot with more people, but so far I have not been shown any evidence of it.
Also, just looking over the diagram of the area and the fuel tanks (again, I claim no expertise), it does not look like an explosion of the tanks would have been likely to directly affect the concert crowd 250 yards away. Would it make the whole thing more scary and spectacular? Undoubtedly. But from the videos I have seen of people fleeing the concert area, they were going up the streets. I haven’t seen anything to suggest people fleeing toward the airport, so it seems unlikely that the tank explosion scenario would have affected how people fled the area or created many more casualties. It would have made the whole thing more dramatic, maybe like an action movie sequence, but it still strikes me as very amateur and ineffective for him to be firing his bullets at those tanks from 650+ meters away (and not even penetrating the tanks).
I am perfectly ready to be better instructed by anyone with expert knowledge, which I don’t pretend to have.
Why wouldn’t he have used tracer rounds then if shooting at the tanks?

someone on some youtube video noted that those fuel tanks would be a nice vantage point to actually shoot into the venue as well.
shoot Tannerite as the primary charge to blow up ammonium nitrate/diesel fuel secondary charge to blow up the fuel tanks. It would have taken out the whole Strip
You would think, if that were his intent and he planned as thoroughly as he appears to have planned everything else, he would have gotten a Barrett 50 Caliber sniper rifle and some tracer rounds ...
Makes me think he either didn’t know what he was doing or else that wasn’t his intent.

He had the incendiaries in the car, which he left with the valet. I wonder if they will find his valet ticket in the room? If the ticket is missing, it could be with the accomplice who did not do his job. It would explain Paddock shooting at those tanks wondering why they did not blow.

I like the way you think. Was the accomplice supposed to park the car by the tanks and failed to do it? So Paddock took shots at the tanks anyways hoping against hope that they would blow...
Was the accomplice the one who warned people at the concert they were all going to die?

The first video has four individual shots heard. And some guy in the stands is yelling in the direction of the shots “F*** You!!” The cops are telling him to get down, and to go the other way.
There must have been shooting before the four individual shots on the body cam, as the cops are already taking cover behind a wall and trying to get a look at the Mandalay - or at least in that direction.
Maybe some individual shots at the tanks, or individual shots at the stage to get range and elevation?

The only explanation I could even think remotely possible was shooting different directions out of the two different windows, but shots are so close and windows so far apart that could not be one shooter with that theory...
