The NFL is going to be looking at reducing their expenses.

Got that, Mr. Brian (useless overhead) McCarthy?

I’m a woman and have been an NFL fan since I was 8 or 9 years old. One of my daughters is a bigger fan than I am. However, the older I get the less I care. Now I actually want to see their demise.

The team and their owners doubled down, then tripled down, and so on.

They’ve left no wiggle room to ever go back to “normal,” so my wife and I will never expect to do anything positive for any NFL team or show.

We did enjoy the commercials on Superbowl Sunday.

I despise the league more than I enjoyed those things, anyway.

Who wants to watch a bunch of super rich felons b!tch about how terrible the US is to us and the world? I’d rather polish my tennis shoes or pick my nose on a public stage.

Oh, I am sure there were women who watched NFL football in the early '70s and before, but they were the exception. My mother tried to watch back in the '50s as a newlywed to spend time with my father, but it wasn't because she was drawn to the game. The ads were ALL razors, beer, cigars/small cigars and cars. Occasionally there'd be an ad for insurance or maybe a weird corporate ad (ALCOA, Wang, Exxon computers). NOTHING a regular woman would be interested at the time.

NFL ratings down on weekend of boycott

I'm calling it the year of the boycott.

15% drop in viewers since the beginning of the season.

"An NFL spokesman, Brian McCarthy, said there was no indication that the boycott had any impact, both on television and in the stands. He noted how viewership in general is down for television, and that there has been great competition with a busy news period."

“It’s more likely a spontaneous upwelling of disgust than the influence of “some conservatives”.”

that’s actually true of all conservative “boycotts”. We don’t need “organizers” to tell us when righteous actions need to be taken: we all simply independently come to the same conclusions at the same time for the same reasons, and then we all independently take action.

the sudden falloff in revenue, sales, and/or cancellations is thereby all the more devastating because frequently there were no real warnings, and the clueless fools running the companies that get hit in the solar plexus out of the blue are initially completely bewildered, staggering around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Sounds alot like the ‘illegals in the USA numbers’ that Obama’s administration kept touting.

“Rather, the solution they offer is to stop broadcasting during the National Anthem.”

unpatriotic to say the least, but at least it deprives the kneelers of a publicly broadcast venue for their antics.

After all, if players kneel in the forest but no one sees them, did a protest really happen?

“No, but it might stop the freefall”

i would say it would SLOW the freefall: many other reasons for dropping viewership besides kneelers, namely, NFL football has become predictable and boring, with all teams playing not to lose, playing solely for the other team to make more mistakes, blizzards of time-killing penalties, too many three-and-outs, low-scoring games, WAY too many commercials, and lame announcers that never STFU, e.g., Chris Collinsworth. Out of 3-3.5 hours of telecast, there are actually only an average of ELEVEN minutes of actual football when you add up all the play times between snaps and whistles.

I’d been watching less and less over the last couple decades, disgusted by increasingly juvenile behavior on the field. Now I can’t stomach watching the NFL at all. No need to boycott when I don’t give a rip anyway.

Did you ever watch Happy Days? Then, you have another. Of course, Happy Days had MANY spin-offs (Laverne & Shirley, Joannie Loves Chachi, Mork & Mindy, at least)...

The stupidity of the management will soon become obvious when they do ban the national anthem to end the protests. Not realizing it will just be the death blow to the NFL

16.3M week one

15.8M week two

14.8M week three

13.8M week four

At this rate by the end of the season the only viewers will be relatives of the players!

Make it so! Also, of interest, this:

"The only prime-time entertainment shows to rank higher last week were CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” and its spinoff, 'Young Sheldon.' "

These are both relatively family-friendly old school shows without a political or social agenda.

So very true... but the National Felons League is some how not getting the hard look from the financial world..

I really do think they will make the attempt to drop the National Anthem... they already waffled on not showing it on TV.. the upper management is too dumb and disconnected to understand the situation.

The NFL senior management will be remembered up there with Curtiss Wright Senior Management from the early 1950’s that bet the farm on large radial engines versus jet engines, thinking jet engines would be a very limited market into the 1970’s... lol

The commercials are online the next day on numerous sites. You can view them without the game.

“Did you ever watch Happy Days?”

Actually did occasionally watch it. Have no idea of current TV programs, though. Rarely turn the telly on.
Did watch “Twin Peaks, The Return”, tho.
