Psychiatrist Michael Welner told Fox News this morning that he thinks CNN's priorities, when it comes to mass shootings, are completely twisted. He said, "CNN's gonna have to answer for how they demonize gun enthusiasts and how CNN actually contributes to mass shooting."
Welner says that after the incident in Las Vegas, now deemed the deadliest shooting in U.S. history, CNN didn't demonize the shooter. He says that by only hammering on gun control, and not highlighting how horrible the assailant was, the network encourages other shooters. He argues it is a way of complicity elevating the status of a killer, making the sick prestige something to murder for.
He continued: "There are no George Zimmerman copycats. There are no Donald Sterling copycats. There are no Jerry Sandusky copycats. Why? We've demonized them." And, Welner says, CNN (and probably other mainstream media outlets) doesn't demonize the shooter enough. They give him a lot of airtime, and blame the tool not the man. Is this indeed twisted?
The media was indeed so quick to talk about gun control. To say they were excitable would be an understatement.

We’ve known CNN needed some psychiatrists for decades.
This is exactly right. The establishment loves mass shootings, and wants more of them, so they encourage them in this way.
Copycat effect. Well known.

Excellent point!
“There are no Jerry Sandusky copycats.”
I wish that were true.
There are monsters like Sandusky out there.
Similarly, I would say that the essence of Christianity is that we all have free will and we all have a sinful nature. We make choices. We make bad choices. It is inherent to who we are. And so we need to constantly strive against our baser instincts, knowing that we will fail, and yer striving all the same. And knowing that only through Christ’s redemptive love can we ever be forgiven for our sins.
But that way of thinking is almost completely gone from our society.
Today, everyone is wonderful. Everyone deserves a trophy. We are all great. We just need to get rid of certain inanimate objects, like guns. Then we can build heaven right here on Earth. All by ourselves.
Bwahahahahahaha! See nn answer for anything? Good luck with that.
We had a local radio personality that would announce, for news value: “What your about to hear, this will be the one and only time you will hear me use the perpetrators name. You may hear callers use the name, but you will not hear me again use the name.”
I think that is entirely appropriate.
One of these things is not like the others. Self-defense, anybody? Bueller?
Unfortunately, there are Sandusky copycats. They just try to stay hidden.
Why of course they are not going to blame Paddock.
They are waiting for the right info to come out about Paddock so they can turn him in to a victim.
If Paddock is a victim they can blame the gun.
The MSM murdered those people as if they pulled the trigger. I believe their efforts to attack Trump caused this guy to go to the extreme.
Why is it the media loves all mass shootings except for the weekly mass shootings in Chicago and Detroit?
Good point.
ISIS kills 50 homos and there were NO CALLS for gun control. Why?
Because, saying “American, you are under attack from foreign terrorists that we sneak into the country, turn over your weapons!” is a hard sell.
Some homegrown nutso does it and they start in twenty minutes later?
Bottom line, assault weapons ban means blood. Not a single inch to these s
“Then we can build Heaven right here on earth. All by ourselves”.
I know you were being sarcastic, so I will just add.
OOHHKAYY, Good luck with that.
I honestly believe that Democrats have orgasms (metaphorically) when these shootings occur.
