If true it undercuts the ‘he just snapped’ meme

So far, in my view, this is the "evidence" that the shooter was involved with Islam or ISIS:

1. ISIS said he was.

2. He targeted entertainment/tourist events, as ISIS has done.

3. He had no known involvement with any American political faction or movement, either left or right.

4. He alternately (allegedly) targeted events with both liberal and conservative attendees, indicating no particular preference.

5. No other motive has emerged.

That's not much, but it's about all we have, other than rumors he'd been "off the grid" for an extended time, and seemed to know a lot more about guns and explosives than his brother expected.
